Paweł Zalewski, who has been known for years from an highly pro-Ukrainian approach in abroad and historical politics, and presently holds the position of Deputy Head of the Ministry of the Republic of the Republic of Tusk, has attempted to justify the usage of flag symbolism in Poland. He claims that genocidal, Ukrainian ideology ‘not a problem’. The case was described by the website endy.pl.
Deputy Minister of Government Tusk defends the flag ideology. The scandalous message was made during a Wednesday interview with Zalewski at RMF FM. – The context is always important, always crucial is what communicates with these symbols. If these symbols communicate hatred, aversion to Poland, then I see no reason why someone, especially a young man who speaks publicly, should be tolerated in Poland He said. – For us these are the colours of the band, but these are the colors, let's call it, the colors of Ukrainian troops from history. – he continued.
“Bandeism is not a problem. Of course, expressing any form of hatred towards Poland is simply a problem and I see no reason why specified people in Poland would search refuge," he added, trying to relativize the problem and thus diminish the criminal nature of the Ukrainian version of Nazism.
Moreover, he criticised the thought of president Katol Nawrocki in the following part of his speech to punish the flagism at the same level as Nazism and communism. According to him, chasing Ukrainian Nazis would be "supporting Putin's propaganda".
