In the last episode of the “Rymanowski breakfast” programme in Polsat News, there was a sharp exchange of views between MEPs on migration and national safety policy. Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik, MEP of the Confederation, did not leave a dry thread on the policies of the ruling coalition, criticising their approach to immigration. Her words sparked a stormy discussion, which revealed deep divisions in the Polish political scene.
"Take immigrants home" – controversial words of Zajączkowska-Hernik
During the Zajączkowska-Hernik programme, she addressed straight the politicians of the ruling coalition with a provocative appeal: “If you are supporters of receiving immigrants, take any assignment home”. Her words were a consequence to the discussion on the safety of the country and migration policy, which has been stimulating emotions in Poland for years.
However, the Euro MP of the Confederation has not limited itself to general statements. In consequence to the message of the Euro MP of the Civic Coalition, Michał Szczerby, who stressed that the programme is simply a serious public debate, not a entertaining TikTok, Zajączkowska-Hernik asked him an ironic question: “When are you going with the net from Ikea to the border?”. This is simply a mention to earlier controversy related to actions on the Polish-Belarusian border.
Tooth and grin answer: “To neverending story”
Michał Szczerba did not stay indebted, calling Zajączkowska-Hernik's message "neverending story" – a communicative repeated for years. “For 4 years, the same song. erstwhile there are real decisions, unfortunately you are on Putin's side, Orban's side and German AfD' said Szczerba, suggesting that the Confederation has no real solutions to migration.
The discussion was besides attended by Euro MP Lewica, Krzysztof Śmiszek, who criticised the “introductions of the far right”. He recalled an incidental in Żyrardów, where Confederate supporters, operating as part of alleged civic patrols, attacked a hotel inhabited by foreigners working with a local entrepreneur. “On the second day no 70 foreigners came to work for a Polish entrepreneur who besides gave work to Poles” said Śmiszek, addressing Zajęczkowska-Hernik directly.
“How many days did you spend in the factory?” – questions Smish
Śmiszek did not halt at criticism, asking Zajądzkowska-Hernik a series of provocative questions: "I ask you how many days you spent in this mill replacing those foreigners your colleagues fired. How much time did you take? This is simply a mirror reflection of how many politicians of the ruling coalition have taken into abroad homes. I ask how many days you spent at this mill assembling screws and another things, replacing those who worked for the lowest national”.
Zajączkowska-Hernik reposts: “You must not work in the brain”
In consequence to the allegations of Śmiszek, Zajączkowska-Hernik not only denied cognition of the described case, but besides attacked opponents verbally. "I keep wondering, how must you not be able to work in your brain, that you are able to draw specified unusual conclusions and lie to your eyes? You are unmerciful liars.” said the Euro MP of the Confederation, leaving no uncertainty about her position.
Summary: Migration policy at the heart of a heated debate
The discussion in the Rymanowski breakfast showed that the subject of immigration and national safety inactive divides the Polish political scene. Both the Confederate and the ruling coalition and the Left have diametrically different approaches to these issues, leading to sharp clashes in the public arena.
