In our country, people who are barely making ends meet. Latest report "The Noble Package" says directly: almost 2 million people live in utmost poorness – it's like an full large city larger than Warsaw, which the authors called "Biedanski".
The phenomenon of utmost poorness is increasing in Poland. The latest “Report on Poverty” prepared by the Noble Package shows that in 2024 utmost poorness in Poland afraid almost 2 million people. The authors of the publication describe this group metaphorically as the inhabitants of “Biedańska” – a city larger than Warsaw and the largest population in the country.
Although the number of people highly mediocre decreased by about 600,000 a year, the problem did not disappear, but only changed the scale. Around “Poedan” there is simply a “agglomeration of comparative poverty” covering nearly 5 million people. They are residents who, according to the report, live "over the line", but with very small safety margin. The difference between utmost and comparative poorness authors bring to 300 PLN per period – equivalents of about 10 PLN per day.
This means that more than 1 million people live in the alleged grey poorness region – they are not eligible for social assistance, but their expenditure does not cover basic needs. In 2024, the limit of utmost poorness for a single individual was 972 PLN per month.
The study besides details the structure of Polish poverty. The most susceptible group are those who live from agriculture (11.4%) and from social benefits (10.8%). Households with disabilities are heavy exposed – the hazard of poorness rate is 7%.
Poverty peculiarly affects children and seniors. In 2024 there were 364,000 youngest in utmost poverty. all 5th aged individual in Poland experiences hunger or malnutrition, and over 400,000 seniors function below the minimum of existence. The number of alleged hunger pensions – below the minimum benefit – reached 433,000.
