Border safety services are increasingly reporting on cases of foreigners residing in Poland without crucial documents. The latest checks carried out in Podkarpacie show that the problem of illegal residence of foreigners is already affecting not only national borders but besides cities in the country.
The number of illegal immigrants in Poland is increasing. Border defender officers from the facilities in Rzeszów-Jasionka and Sanoku performed checks on the legality of abroad residence in respective cities of the region. As a result, more people who are in Poland without crucial papers were revealed.
A Sri Lankan citizen was detained in Stalowa Wola, who resided in Poland on the basis of the Latvian residence card, which expired in 2025. As a result, the foreigner was given the decision to return and the ban on re-entry. A akin situation was faced by a 22-year-old Zimbabwean citizen who had been inspected in Rzeszów - his residence card was besides invalid. People from many countries, including Zimbabwe, Tajikistan, Paraguay, Russia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Georgia, India and Turkey, were among those residing illegally.
The problem is besides of a national nature. In March, over 140 foreigners staying in Poland illegally were detained during a large operation of the police and Border Guard, and procedures were initiated to leave the country.
Cases revealed in Rzeszów, Stalowa Wola or Krosno show that illegal migration is not limited to attempts to cross the border. In many situations foreigners stay in Poland after the expiry of papers or ignore refusals to stay. The services point out that checks on the legality of the stay are carried out regularly and cover not only border crossing points but besides airports, roads and large cities.
Data from fresh months clearly show that the number of cases of illegal residence in Poland is increasing. Further activities of the Border defender uncover people from different parts of the planet who reside in the country without the required papers or violate residence regulations.
Controls carried out in cities specified as Rzeszów, Stalowa Wola or Krosno are effective, but unfortunately only ad hoc and follow-up actions. It is essential to change the full strategy of a country to reduce illegal immigration. People of the "third world" should be assured of the harsh punishment for coming to us illegally.
