Head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen She's in. in the fire of criticism. There have been further requests in the European Parliament for a vote of distrust against her. The allegations against the president concern, inter alia, climate policy, migration and trade agreements concluded by the European Union.
Von der Leyen will be fired from the EC? The motion for a vote of distrust against Ursula von der Leyen was made by factions from other sides of the political scene — both the utmost right and the utmost left. Although the chances of pushing the vote are low, an expanding number of critics show that the Brussels elite is losing support.
Von der Leyen is accused of deficiency of transparency in decision-making, pushing controversial climate solutions and concluding agreements that many politicians believe undermine the economy of associate States.
The most breathtaking are the US and Mercosur agreements, which, according to critics, put European producers at a disadvantage. There are besides voices that the EU's climate policy is becoming a tool of bureaucratic coercion, leading to increased cost of surviving for citizens and the collapse of many industries.
Many Euro MPs accuse the president of acting in a way that is separate from the real problems of Europeans. Migration crises, the war in Ukraine, economical instability – all this shows that the European Union's current governance model is no longer working. This defends itself by calling its critics Putin's accomplices.
Although most commentators believe that the vote of distrust against von der Leyen will not pass, the very fact that it is happening is simply a signal of increasing opposition to the centralist policy of Brussels. More and more European governments request greater respect for the sovereignty of states and a simplification in the function of the European Commission in interior affairs.
