Friday night, in Tarnów, there was a dramatic situation that ended tragically. A 16-year-old boy stabbed his peer who died in infirmary before midnight. The perpetrator was detained by police a fewer 100 meters from the scene.
According to unofficial information, the origin of the conflict was a quarrel over the father of 1 of the boys. The attack occurred in a public place, which caused a large shock among the residents of Tarnow.
Police reported the boy heard the execution charge. A spokesperson for Tarnów police, Paweł Klimek, said that “he heard the charge of murder. They will decide whether he will respond as an adult or as a minor.”
The household court decided to temporarily place the boy in a closed educational center for a period of 3 months. For now, a 16-year-old is in the police detention centre in Krakow. The court hasn't identified a circumstantial facility yet.
This tragedy is an example of force among young people, which is an expanding problem in Poland. According to Central Statistical Office data, in 2020 there were 12,441 crimes committed by persons under the age of 18, which accounts for 11.6% of all crimes registered that year.
The causes of youth force are varied and complex. An expert at the Institute of Psychology, Dr. Katarzyna Śliwa, says that "the main causes of youth force are household difficulties, deficiency of social support and peer pressure."
