LOS ANGELES- One of the largest airlines in the world, United Airlines (UA), has added more than two dozen special flights for Fall 2025. The flights are being introduced to serve fans attending Notre Dame football games.
The new flights will be easing travel for supporters of the Football teams during the important matches throughout the season.

United Airlines Fall Flights
The United Airlines’ current focus seems to be on targeting specific, event-driven travel demand. College football, particularly for programs like Notre Dame, draws large traveling fan bases. United’s scheduling team has clearly identified these patterns and responded with targeted capacity increases.
United’s new fall schedule includes over 24 new nonstop flights tailored for Notre Dame football fans. The flights will be covering both home games at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana, and select away games.
These are spread across September, October, and November. Among the most notable ones are the flights from Los Angeles and Newark.
A nonstop flight between Los Angeles and South Bend for the October showdown between Notre Dame and USC. Another direct flight from Newark to South Bend for the same game. This shows the airline’s attention to high-demand events.
These flights will primarily depart from cities with large Notre Dame fan bases. This includes Los Angeles, Newark, Washington, D.C., Denver, and Chicago, among others. While some routes are entirely new, other routes with flights already operating will see bigger aircraft. The airline is also optimizing departure times to better suit game schedules.

United’s Flight Boost Amid Strong Q1
The new flights are timed to match major home and away games on Notre Dame’s schedule, helping fans reach South Bend or other key venues more seamlessly. United is also deploying larger aircraft and modifying departure times to accommodate the expected increase in demand.
James Starnes, United’s Director of Domestic Scheduling, emphasized the airline’s commitment to enhancing the fan experience: “We’ve added flights across the country to some of the biggest college football matchups, giving fans more options to get in on the action and follow their team on the road this season.”
United Airlines had a strong financial quarter this year. The airline reported $13.2 billion in revenue, its best Q1 result in five years. Despite that, it plans to cut domestic capacity by 4% beginning in Q3 2025 due to softer demand. This isn’t limited to the United only. Several other carriers are also adjusting capacity to deal with fluctuating leisure and business travel volumes.

Bottom Line
Notre Dame football has one of the most loyal fan bases in American college sports. United is adding flights this fall to match the schedule of key Notre Dame football games, giving fans a way to travel more directly to home and away matchups.
These flights aren’t permanent additions to the schedule. The flights are limited and focused around specific weekends, mainly when demand is expected to be highest. The airline is focusing on short periods when more people are likely to travel
For Notre Dame fans, the new flights will offer more direct options to get to games. For United, it’s a calculated move to fill seats during a period of slower general travel demand.
