Sanitary services one more time they intercepted contaminated food from Ukraine. This time 40 tons of margarine did not enter Poland. Inspectors of Agricultural and Food Products (IJHARS) found a serious mistake in the composition of the product.
Ukrainians tried to bring 40 tons of margarine to Poland, which did not meet the quality requirements. The Inspectorate of Trade Quality of Agricultural and Food Articles in Katowice has banned the introduction of 2 batches of margarine imported from Ukraine. The Office issued an administrative decision suspending the anticipation of placing this product on the marketplace in Poland.
The decision was given the rigor of immediate feasibility, which means that margarine will not enter the Polish marketplace and will not be available to consumers. The Inspectorate stressed that the action was aimed at ensuring the safety of the marketing of agri-food products and protecting the interests of purchasers.
The inspection carried out by GIJHARS showed that the product does not meet the requirements laid down in the rules on margarines and vegetable fats. According to the applicable standards, margarine must contain an adequate level of fat, guaranteeing its technological properties and nutritional values. In the case of batches detained in Katowice, crucial deviations from the required parameters were found. In another words, Ukrians tried to sale a lower quality product as the same as they produced in Poland, but at a much lower price.
That's the second case this week. A day earlier, IJHARS in Łódź stopped the placing on the marketplace of 18 tonnes of pumpkin seeds from China, which found errors in the labelling and the presence of unauthorised plant protection products.
According to the inspectorate data, China and Ukraine are among the leaders among the countries most frequently banned. In the first half of 2025 respectively 12 parties from China, 11 from Ukraine and 10 from Turkey were detained.
Unfortunately, despite many instances of fraud by Ukrainian entrepreneurs, the Tusk government has late abolished respective restrictions in border controls, e.g. concerning the flour imported from this direction.
