BRISTOL- Two easyJet (U2) flights were forced to make emergency landings within two days, prompting safety responses at airports in Izmir (ADB) and Paris Orly (ORY).
The first diversion occurred on a flight from Paphos (PFO) to Bristol (BRS) after a reported smoke-like smell onboard. The second flight, from Manchester (MAN) to Enfidha (NBE), was unexpectedly diverted to Paris Orly (ORY) for undisclosed reasons.

easyJet Flights Emergency Landing
On June 14, 2025, easyJet flight EZY2902, operating an Airbus A320, departed from Paphos International Airport (PFO) en route to Bristol Airport (BRS). While cruising at 36,000 feet over Turkey, the crew detected a smoke smell onboard, prompting a precautionary diversion.
The aircraft made an emergency descent and landed safely at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes after departure. Passengers were calmly evacuated, and emergency services met the aircraft upon arrival as a standard safety procedure.
The aircraft involved in the incident is an Airbus A320-214, registered as G-EZGX. Further, it is a 6.9-year-old aircraft powered by two CFM-56 engines.
In an official statement, easyJet confirmed the diversion was due to a “technical issue” that caused the odor.
The airline arranged hotel accommodations and meals for the affected passengers. A replacement aircraft was scheduled to continue the journey to Bristol later that day.

Second Diversion: Manchester to Enfidha Flight
Just one day later, on June 15, 2025, easyJet flight U22275 from Manchester Airport (MAN) to Enfidha–Hammamet International Airport (NBE) diverted mid-flight to Paris Orly Airport (ORY). The 10.8-year-old Airbus A320 involved was registered as G-EZWY.
Details regarding the cause of the diversion remain undisclosed. easyJet has not issued a formal explanation, but no injuries or critical events were reported, and the aircraft landed safely.
