June 1, 2025, 9:00 p.m. Election venues are closing now, TVN's studio is lit up with triumphant radiance, and Twitter has a euphoria. Exit poll results have just been announced: 50.3% for Trzaskowski, 49.7% for Nawrocki.

“We won!”, “Poland is coming back to Europe!”, “The end of populism!” – thundered statements by opposition fans, politicians and celebrities. any have already packed their suitcases to go to Brussels in a motion of returning to the womb of “Western Civilization”. For a minute Twitter resembled the fan region – joy, tears, confetti. It's just... it was a game without overtime – and yet without an authoritative score.

Exit poll as a Sacrament of Faith

While Charles Nawrocki was drinking tea in his staff, comments about the “new opening” and “the end of the PiS era” were coming from the screens. Many journalists have already started writing columnaries entitled “How Trzaskowski Changed Poland”.

Exit poll became a momentary Messiah to save liberal Poland from oppression. any have been confused with reality. Others have already recorded videos of toasts. 1 of the portals even posted a memo with a signature: "Goodbye Charles". Oh, ironic.

And then the night came. And the results. Real.

11:30. The 50.3% poll melts like snow in April. The final score was announced a fewer hours later.
Karol Nawrocki – 50.89%
Rafał Trzaskowski – 49.11%

Twitter is quiet. The toasts are getting cold. Memes removed in a hurry. In the TVN studio, a small quieter. Out of triumph remains confetti in the toilet and bitter taste of the morning hangover after a political party.

Moral: don't celebrate until the PKW approves

From this communicative you can draw any valuable lessons:

  1. Exit poll is not a conviction, it's a steroid guess.
  2. Elections end erstwhile PKW says they're over.
  3. The triumph proclaimed besides early becomes not a triumph, but an anecdote.

Anecdotes that should be repeated for each subsequent selection:
“Remember how Trzaskowski won for 2 hours?”
“We celebrated like after Euro 2012...”

Karol Nawrocki, supported by Law and Justice and US president Donald Trump, won the presidential election in Poland, winning 50.89% of the vote.

These elections showed a deep polarization of society and the importance of patience while awaiting authoritative results. Early announcement of triumph based on polls can lead to misinformation and unnecessary social tensions.
