During the debate between Rafał Trzaskowski and Karol Nawrocki there was a heated discussion about the sale of the historical building at 66 Marszałkowska Street in Warsaw. Nawrocki accused the president of the capital that, under the appearance of renovation, he had disembarked the tenants and refused to let them return to their apartments. Will Trzaskowski answer that question?
“Will you behave decently?” – Nawrocki attacks Trzaskowski
During the pre-election debate, Karol Nawrocki (PiS) asked Rafał Trzaskowski (KO) a sharp question about the destiny of residents of the townhouse at Marszałkowska 66.
– "Mr. Rafale, you sold everything in Warsaw, even Warsaw taxis. You sold them to not just anyone. You sold them to the boy of a TVN owner. I think you're comfortable with yourselves. You besides sold plots at the Skarszewski Park in Warsaw, the game gardens. They couldn't be sold due to the fact that the residents reacted. Do you besides want to sale a townhouse on Marszałkowska 66?” Nawrocki asked.
In his reply, Mr Krzaskowski stressed that stopped the privatisation process and did not let the sale of municipal housing with a discount, which – as he noted – was the thought of PiS.
– “When I heard that the issue of Marszałkowska was controversial, even though this building was falling apart, people had to be moved to another apartments with a much better standard. I stopped this decision due to the fact that erstwhile I hear specified signals, I immediately intervene.” – explained the president of Warsaw.
“Will you let people go home?”
Nawrocki did not quit and accused Trzaskowski that did not answer directly on the key question:
– "You did not answer the simple question: will you behave decently and let people from Marszałkowska 66 to return home? To this house, from which in specified a shameful way, under the appearance of renovation, you drove them out. You took them from your own home and you wouldn't let them come back.” said politician PiS.
Trzaskowski replied that He's not going to sale the house.and the officials' decisions in this case were dictated by the mediocre method condition of the building.
Will the villagers return to their homes?
The case of the townhouse at Marszałkowska 66 has been emotional for years. The residents were displaced in 2019 due to risk of collapseBut they can't go back to their places until today. Warsaw authorities say it is essential major renovation, but any tenants fishy that the tenement can be sold to developers.
Did Trzaskowski actually stop the privatisation process and let the residents to return? There is inactive no clear answer to that question.
