Warsaw, after the last showers, faces serious problems associated with excess water which floods streets and buildings. However, it turns out that the scale of the problem is much higher. There was a video on the network that aroused quite a few emotion and became widely commented on social media. The movie shows how in 1 of Warsaw's apartments water flows from... an electrical outlet.
A recording that shocked net users
The video, which was released on the FB website Lubuscy Storm Hunters, shows a situation that seems almost impossible. Water flows from the electrical socket, which is usually a origin of electricity. Although this sounds like a horror scene, specified situations may happen during utmost weather conditions, especially in the case of intense rainfall that causes the buildings to flood.
Warnings against storms and rains
On Monday, the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued third-degree warnings against storms for the western and central regions of Poland, first- and second-degree warnings for the south of the country and second-degree warnings against heat in the east. These forecasts proved to be correct, as there were serious complications on the roads from Monday to Tuesday due to intense rainfall.
Road obstruction
The Chief Inspectorate of Road Transport (GDDKiA) reported during the night about difficulties on the S8 way to Mazowsz, between the Marymoncka and Modlinska junctions, where there was a serious water spill after the shower. ‘Road blocked. Obstacle was created at around 01.10" in an authoritative communication. This situation caused serious traffic difficulties and drivers were forced to look for alternate routes.
Alert for Warsaw Police
On Tuesday morning, the Police Capital Command, via platform X (formerly Twitter), reported that "in connection with the nightly downpours, the Police Capital Commandant declared an alarm for the police of the capital garrison." This decision was the consequence of many reports and interventions that were essential to guarantee the safety of Warsaw residents and to defend their property.
How do specified situations occur?
Situations where water flows from electrical outlets are highly rare, but possible. In most cases, buildings are exposed to flooding and insulation systems are incapable to meet the force of water. Water can then enter the electrical installation, which poses a immense threat not only to property but, above all, to the lives of the inhabitants. In specified cases, immediate intervention is needed by specialists who can safe the building and prevent possible electrical shocks.
