U.S. president Donald Trump announced that in the coming week he would announce fresh duties on imports of semiconductors from the US.

"I intend to announce this over the next week," he told journalists in the White House, commenting on upcoming duties on semiconductor imports.

Previously Trade Secretary Howard Lutnick said that the US temporarily released imports of electronics and semiconductors from the "mirror" duties, as the US administration intends to impose separate sectoral duties on them in the coming months.

U.S. president Donald Trump signed an implementing regulation imposing "mutual" customs duties on imports from another countries on April 2. Their base rate is 10 percent. and for 57 countries, from 9 April, increased rates, which have been calculated on the basis of the US trade deficit with the country concerned, so that alternatively of the deficit there is simply a balance. However, on April 9, Trump announced that more than 75 countries had not taken retaliatory action and requested negotiations, so basic import duties of 10% would be in force for 90 days for all but China.

Following a series of steps in the trade war, an additional US ‘reciprocal’ work on Chinese goods reached 125% and the Chinese work on American goods was besides 125%. In addition, the United States imposed a further 20% work on China on grounds of insufficient action to combat synthetic drugs.
