Let's take the kids seriously

As a politician, I meet quite a few people, and this besides gives me an overview of how children are treated. What strikes me is that children are seldom introduced by parents and can at all greet themselves (a small kid to give the right hand, a bigger say “good morning”, increasing up with his name).

Parents are frequently amazed erstwhile I welcome their children, even those increasing up. The exception is parents who will present their children with pride. It seems to me that these are tiny gestures, and the building value and life of a young man. Changing that wouldn't cost us anything but changing our attitude.

I have an intuition that moving specified social empowerment of children into the vicinity of eighteen is simply a mistake. Sometimes I talk to teenagers for “Mr” or “Mrs” and I hear protests. What kind of signal does a boy or a girl get? I see a different approach only in a fewer families with, I think, higher cultural (or frequently material) capital.

It's not good that we have specified a difference, and it's against most people. Today's kid treated without appropriate attention and respect is tomorrow's citizen with mediocre self-esteem.
