Cezary Tomczyk stated on 2 October that according to the service data there are 50 people detained in Polish prisons in connection with sabotage. In this way, Vice-President MON responded to president Nawrocki's allegations of political "distribution of fear". Threats must not be underestimated, but the government must supply the Poles with verifiable information.

Tomczyk corresponds to the President's number of detainees

Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Defence Cezary Tomczyk appeared on October 2 on TVP Info. He stated that there were 50 people in prison who he described as saboteurs detained by peculiar services. The Vice-President of MON quoted RMF24. However, publically available material does not supply a list of cases, legal grounds for detentions or a phase of individual proceedings.

Tomczyk reacted to the earlier words of Karol Nawrocki. The president accused Prime Minister Donald Tusk of "distributing fear" and trying to divert attention from the state's financial situation. The Deputy Minister found negation of information provided by Polish and abroad services to be irresponsible. The dispute so concerns 2 real responsibilities of the authorities: a informing of the threat and fair state of affairs.

Russian diversion is not a substitute theme

Poland remains 1 of the main backdrop countries for defending Ukraine. This makes us a natural mark of Russian actions below the threshold of open war. Tomczyk had already warned against Russian diversion, indicating a threat to the infrastructure and safety of the state.

Deputy Chief MON besides spoke about the evacuation of border crossings due to the hazard of Russian strikes. He recalled the situation in Dorohusk, where during the raid on Ukraine the drone struck about 2 kilometres from the Polish-Ukrainian crossing, on the Ukrainian side of the border. The Government safety Center then sent an alert to the Lublin Voivodeship. The Polish airspace was not affected.

These facts show that Russian force has a direct dimension. The State must defend the border, connectivity, railways, warehouses and defence facilities. Karol Nawrocki himself indicated that Russia does not change and Poland must be ready. The difference between the president and the government should not obscure the common task.

Security requires facts, not political theatre

The 50-person declaration is of large importance. That is why it should be supplemented with as much information as possible that does not prejudice the secrecy of the investigation: how many allegations have been presented to the suspects, how many have been charged, and how many have been convicted. The word ‘saboteur’ must not replace a precise description of the legal status. The presumption of innocence besides applies erstwhile the State is facing a serious threat.

Nawrocki has the right to settle the government with finance and crisis communication. The government is obliged to inform the president and citizens if the services detect preparations for diversion acts. Neither organization should usage safety as a baton in the current organization fight.

The opposition of Poland is at stake. The downgrading of Russian activities lulls vigilance, and alarmism without hard data destroys assurance in the institution. Poles request efficient services, safe infrastructure and clear messages. This should be required of both the Presidential Palace and the government.
