Poland is working very shyly on the introduction of the digital tax, i.e. taxation of services provided by the alleged BigTechy. These are corporations like Alphabet, Meta, X, and others.
Their common feature is the global scope of action and the search for ways of taxation optimisation. Another dominant feature is that they are mostly American companies, sometimes Chinese. European companies usually do not meet this definition, but if anyone knows, delight send me names.
In Poland, for any time, there has been talk, and even reportedly any work, in the area of taxation of profits that these companies accomplish through their activity in our country. The information about taking up the subject caused a very nervous, hysterical reaction of the fresh US Ambassador. possibly due to the fact that indirectly this taxation will hit Musk's business.
Anyway, it shows the perfect thing I wrote about on the occasion of my MEGA text. Strong corporations, additionally supported by a superpower, have political and economical power beyond the capacity of most countries. In this, however, rather rich European countries.
Therefore, in my humble opinion, in specified matters, the competences should be transferred to the European Union level.
Such a solution has all the advantages.
Firstly, the Union is an entity with more possible than the sum of European countries' potential.
Secondly, the Union needs to have its own taxation revenue, as it does with customs revenue. Own taxation revenues can be allocated to MEGA, i.e. defence, pan-European infrastructure and whatever.
Thirdly, specified a taxation will be common. There won't be a situation where an interior competition or lobbying breaks out of this country.
The EU can besides adopt, for example, a mechanics to calculate how much gross from this taxation comes from a given country and to include this in the EU budget, for example.
