Dirt, odor and poverty – all this can be found in the very centre of Warsaw. Residents of the area around the Guards Hall and Mirowska Hall tell how homeless groups turn the area into a real nightmare. And they're calling for help. The correspondent of “Virtual Poland” personally found the seriousness of the problem by visiting these places.
Says Joanna: “For over a period now, drug addicts and alcoholics have been occupying areas close the defender Hall. You can't walk on the sidewalk, spit, swear, and behave challengingly. Neither the police nor the city police nor the mayor can do anything about it." He adds: “The rats are moving through the waste, and there are older men on earth with ulcers of the legs. Who's gonna aid these people? It is simply a shame for Warsaw.”
A correspondent for “Virtual Poland” found the scale of the problem by going to the address indicated in the message. And indeed, the sidewalk was filled with garbage, food, drinks, clothes, mattresses. The full thing was watched by a single female affected by a homelessness crisis.
She told the reporter she was alone in the area for the time being, but in the evening "there will be more people." The female denied that the groups of people gathered here behaved challengingly and aggressively.
“No 1 disturbs anyone here. City police and police are coming here. There are no drug or alcohol users here. They are there, further” he says and points to the another end of the street.
“Why bother strangers erstwhile I have a pension? I have money for food, drinks, cigarettes – adds a woman.

She says a fewer years ago she should have gotten a social apartment, but she gave her brother's address for correspondence. According to her, the man did not inform her of the writings that came from the municipality, and so the chance for an flat was lost.
Near the defender Hall is Hala Mirowska. That's how they describe the situation in the area.
“I am amazed that the servants have not done anything yet. These people truly sleep here, and they're inactive here. There's more people at 5 tonight. I thought it was a temporary phenomenon, but as you can see, they have settled here – Wiesława says.
“In the evenings there is simply a real nightmare: drunkenness, screaming, fighting. City police and police are completely unresponsive. The view is disgusting: people lie with bare asses, any defecate in the park – says Agnieszka.
“Sometimes they ask for change, they curse and they start fights among themselves. There's a female here who doesn't look like she's always lived on the street, but she's been getting into a streetcar with all the dirt. individual has to aid these people," says Magdalena, who works in the area.
"It happens here all day. Let Trzaskowski do something. It is simply a shame for the city,” concludes another local.
The city guards are trying to solve the drifting problem.
"From 1 May to 15 August, we received 3 reports from residents of violations of public order and contamination of the area and 11 reports of homeless people in the area of Mirowski Square 3," said defender officer Jerzy Jabrasko.
According to him, after receiving the information, the City defender and ZUS immediately took action to reconstruct order.
"The designated area will be under the peculiar control of the municipal guard", concluded the employee.
