The climate and environment minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska spoke on Radio Zet on the anticipation to include the alleged "monkey" (small glass bottles) with a bailout system. – The bail strategy will enter into force in October 2025. We are not planning any further changes to the deadline. This is an highly crucial solution for improving the collection of packaging waste, which is simply a crucial part of all waste. The strategy will cover PET bottles up to 3 litres, plastic bottles, cans and larger glass bottles. In the future, we will consider extending the system, but at this point, we are focusing on the education of society in terms of effective use.

Responsibilities of shops and local authorities

The price of drinks in bottles and cans will be added to the deposit that can be recovered, returning the package in peculiar vending machines. According to the fresh regulations, these machines will be mandatory in all stores with an area of more than 200 sqm. Each municipality shall have at least 1 stationary reception point.

The climate minister pointed out the request to cooperate with local governments in order to avoid increased costs for residents:

– We will talk to local governments to prevent possible increases in the price of garbage exports. We want the introduction of a bailout strategy not to burden the residents. It should be remembered that this strategy besides brings benefits to the consumer. It will make closed packaging systems, which can consequence in lower product prices.

Will the “mocks” be covered by the bail scheme?

Although there is interest in extending the bailout strategy to "mocks", there are presently no concrete plans. The Minister indicated that any change requires careful analysis and logistical preparation.
