The Israeli army systematically violated the war law in the Gaza Strip, which requires it to minimise civilian casualties during the fighting," stated the United Nations Office of the advanced Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

"It seems that the work to choose the means and methods of war that prevent, or at least minimise, possible harm to civilian populations was systematically violated during the Israeli bombing run (in Gaza-ed.)", quoted in the OHCHR chief's paper Volker Türk.

The report, covering the period from October to December 2023, concluded that a series of Israeli attacks, illustrated by six incidents, indicated that the IDF repeatedly violated the basic principles of war law.

"Therefore, the study notes that illegal attacks carried out in the framework of a widespread or systematic attack on civilian populations in accordance with state policies may besides entail a criminal offence against humanity," the UN adds.

OHCHR regrets that Israel has not given any explanation regarding the most deadly bombings after months, despite public promises that it will.

Last week, the United Nations Independent global Investigation Commission on the Occupied Palestinian territory stated that the Israeli authorities have been liable for a number of crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in the Gaza Strip since October 7.

In May, the Prosecutor of the global Criminal Court (ICT) Karim Khan said he was filing an application to the Preparatory home for the issuance of warrants for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanjah and defence Minister Yoava Galant. In his motion, he stated that they were liable for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed since October 2023. Biden then said that the United States did not consider what was going on in Gaza as genocide and rejected Khan's accusations.

Israel experienced an unprecedented rocket attack from the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023. Palestinian Hamas fighters then infiltrated border areas, beginning fire on troops and civilians and taking more than 200 hostages. According to the authorities, about 1,200 people died.

Israel's defence Forces launched Operation Iron Sword in Gaza, including attacks on civilian targets. Israel announced a complete blockade of the enclave: supplies of water, electricity, fuel, food and medicines were halted.
According to the Ministry of wellness of the Gaza Strip, the number of people killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip has since 7 October exceeded 37,000 and over 85,000 people have suffered.

The Gaza Strip has been effectively divided into the confederate and northern parts, and Israel is preparing for a land operation in Rafah, which is considered the last Hamas fortress.
