The president of Archbishop Tadeusz Wojda SAC prayed present at the municipal cemetery in Łomża at the Grave of Lost Children. – Let us ask the Giver of Life that all of us, clergy and laymen, may be able to stand with large humility and sincere love in dealing with the suffering of our parents. So that with our active presence and appropriate prayers we may bring comfort, strengthen our religion and keep the hope that their kid is surrounded by fatherly love – said the president of KEP.
The chair of the CEP was besides accompanied by Lithuanian bishops, as the visit to the municipal cemetery at Przykosharowa Street in Łomża was connected with the two-day gathering of the CEP Group on Contacts with the Conference of the Episcopal Conference of Lithuania. The group is chaired by Bishop Romuald Kamiński of Warsaw and Prague.
The bishops listened to the discussion about accompanying parents experiencing the death of their kid before his birth. They besides heard about initiatives undertaken by the pastoral ministry of families in Poland.
There are 8 Tombs of Lost Children in the Diocese of Łomźnia, 7 hospitals have introduced a procedure for dealing with their parent after a miscarriage, and 8 cities have adopted resolutions by which she engages in the ceremony of a dead child.
We built the Grave of the Lost Children in Łomża according to the task Grażyna Podedworna and covers an area of more than 20 square metres – Fr Jacek Kotowski, pastor of the families of the Diocese of Łomżyń, informed the bishops who arrived at the cemetery. Underneath the full is simply a crypt in which urns with drugs are laid erstwhile a year. The form of the grave symbolizes the spread out arms of the mother, covering children whose temporal remains are buried inside. But in advance, she resembles a parent who expects to have a baby. There is an angel standing at the grave by Michał Selerowski, and shortly another 1 will appear. The 2 angels, like Christ’s grave, are to proclaim the fact to the man praying here. that “these children live in God” (EV 99) and that the surviving among the dead should not be sought (cf. Lk 24:5).
As Fr Kotowski pointed out, each of the 8 graves located in the area of the Diocese of Lodz (Grajevo, Kolno, Łomża, Ostrołęka, Ostrów Mazowiecka, advanced Mazowieckie, Wyszków, Zambrów) performs a triple function. First of all, it is the appropriate grave for the children of the dead as a consequence of the miscarriage. Second, it is simply a symbolic place of prayer for parents who lost their kid much earlier and do not know what happened to his body. Thirdly, it is simply a form of catechesis for people who are not full convinced that they are human since conception.
– This full initiative has been carried out to guarantee that the lost children have a worthy burial and a dignified place in the cemeteries. besides to aid traumatized parents – explained the household pastor. – They cry, pray, stand with seriousness, or ask God hard questions.– The priest said.
The household pastor pointed out that graves are real aid for many people, helping to treat pain after losing their own children. And laws, infirmary procedures prove that parents are not alone in their pain. – Fthe act is that we can't comfort them – due to the fact that there are no appropriate words at specified a dramatic moment, but we realize their traumatic pain and by taking up this work, we effort to relieve them of suffering and show that we are close– said the priest.
The funerals of children lost in the Diocese of Łomżyna are held erstwhile a year, on Saturday preceding the National Day of the Lost Children, which is celebrated on October 15.
