The monument of Tadeusz Kościuszko has been removed in Siechnowicz Mały, a village in Belarus in the arginetic region of the Brest region. This village is the ancestral nest of Kościuszków (Kostyuszków) coat of arms Roch III – 1 of the most crucial locations related to the life of this national hero of Poland, the USA, Belarus and Lithuania.

The monument, created by sculptor Balbina Widacka-Switycz in 1932, was set up on the site of the erstwhile Kościuszków property in 1988. He was to commemorate not only the figure of Tadeusz Kościuszko, but besides his contribution to the conflict for the freedom of nations.

Photos from the local press of May 7, 2025 show only a tiny April discount at the site of the monument. Moreover, all references to Kościuszko were removed from the authoritative website of the regional museum next to which the monument stood. The full museum hall devoted to his life and activities has besides disappeared. It was replaced by an exhibition on the genocide of the Belarusian population during planet War II.

Sechnocze Małe is the only place where Kościuszko owned his own home and lived for 4 years after returning from America. Today's actions many see as an effort to erase this character from historical memory. The symbolic presence of Kościuszko in the place of its origin was completely erased.

For many, it is simply a painful act of destroying national heritage. The bone, who fought for freedom and social justice, was to connect across borders. Meanwhile, his name disappears from public space even where it all began for him.
