Climate activists from the Last Generation achieved their goal – Rafał Trzaskowski agreed to meet after the protesters blocked his election staff in Warsaw. The organization announced the success and temporary suspension of street protests.
Staff block and activist ultimatum
On Monday around 10:00 a.m., respective people entered the office of the election staff of Trzaskowski at Wiejska Street. Activists announced that they would not leave the building until the KO candidate agreed to discuss their demands.
– Time to halt hiding your head in the sand and sit down, Mr. Trzaskowski. Not only the planet is on fire, but you are on fire. Now you're gonna meet up to talk? said Titus Kishka, a typical of the Last Generation, in a conversation with Onet.
"Resistance works" – success of negotiations
After 3 hours of occupation, talks took place with representatives of the staff. On social media, the last generation declared victory:
‘ SUCCES: The last generation negotiated a gathering with Trzaskowski. On June 16, at noon, we sit at the table to discuss our demands. We will besides request that indictments against peaceful protesters be dropped" Activists wrote.

The organisation emphasises that ‘is proof that opposition works’, and announces suspension of streetblocks until the meeting. At the same time, they inform that if the talks fail, protests will resume the next day.
"We will not quit in the fight for climate"
The last generation shows that success was possible thanks to the engagement of hundreds of people who participated in civilian disobedience, and thousands of supporting campaigns.
"The climate collapse is the top threat of the modern world, so we will not give up" – reads the statement.
Will the gathering with Trzaskowski bring real changes? Activists announce that they will push for circumstantial decisions, and if there is no agreement – They'll be back on the streets..
