Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced on Wednesday that parliamentary elections in the United Kingdom would take place on 4 July, following a motion to dissolve Parliament to King Charles III at the end of May.

During conference press release on Wednesday, Prime Minister Sunak announced that he had applied to King Charles III for the dissolution of parliament on 30 May – this is reported by the British broadcaster BBC. As a result, parliamentary elections were scheduled for 4 July. In front of the Prime Minister's office on Downing Street Sunak gave a speech, expressing his pride in his cabinet's achievements to date. Sunak has served as Prime Minister since October 2022.

Also on the same day, it was announced that inflation in the UK had fallen rapidly to 2.3%, the lowest level in almost 3 years. In his speech, Sunak stressed the importance of economical stability, calling it the foundation of success. Although he noted the difficulties facing British society, he claimed that the government had a clear plan for the future. These events were reported by the British broadcaster BBC and the Euronews portal.

The Prime Minister's announcement was rapidly responded by the leader of the main opposition force – the Labour Party, Keir Starmer. He stated that the time had come for social and national change, identifying the election run as an chance to make a better future. Starmer stressed that the Labour organization would search to reconstruct Britain to working people, informing against the continuation of the current "chaos" under the Conservative Party, which he felt led to a failure of safety in the country. He emphasized the request for change.

In the elections, citizens from all over the country will elect 650 members of the home of Commons, the lower home of Parliament. Elections will take place in single-mandate districts, where a candidate with the highest number of votes will be awarded a mandate, not necessarily an absolute majority. According to BBC political commentator Nick Eardley, Rishi Sunak will argue that the economy is improving, and his plan for the country brings results, encouraging assurance and continuation of the existing policy. On the another hand, the Labour organization will convince that the government's plan is not delivering the expected results and the time has come for change. The main topics of the run will be public health, immigration and national security. In Scotland, the Labour organization will search to break the Hegemony of the Scottish National Party, and in any districts of England good results of Liberal Democrats are expected.

In erstwhile elections held in late 2019, The Conservative organization led by Boris Johnson had an unexpected success, breaking the stalemate that prevailed in the organization under Theresa May. However, during his reign, Johnson failed to avoid image crises related to his own behavior, resulting in a organization crisis in 2022. The organization was incapable to form a permanent government for respective months, and the ephemeral government was headed by Liz Truss, who, however, resigned after only six weeks.
