MIRAMAR- Spirit Airlines (NK) has announced Dave Davis as its new President and CEO, effective April 21, 2025. Davis, previously President and CFO of Sun Country Airlines (SY), brings decades of aviation expertise to the ultra-low-cost carrier.
The leadership overhaul includes Duncan Dee as SVP of Corporate Communications and Trey Urbahn as Senior Commercial Advisor. These strategic hires aim to strengthen Spirit’s operational and commercial strategy amid industry challenges.

Spirit Airlines New President and CEO
Dave Davis succeeds the outgoing CEO, joining from Sun Country Airlines (SY), where he played a pivotal role in financial and operational growth.
His prior experience at Northwest Airlines (now part of Delta Air Lines (DL)) further solidifies his expertise in both legacy and budget carrier models.
Davis expressed enthusiasm for joining Spirit Airlines at a pivotal moment, stating his commitment to working with over 11,000 team members to deliver value for guests, shareholders, and communities.
Robert Milton, Spirit Airlines Chairman, emphasized Davis’s ability to drive transformation, citing his track record in cost management and revenue optimization.
Davis stated his focus will be on enhancing customer value, operational efficiency, and shareholder returns.

New Additions to the Executive Team
Spirit Airlines (NK) also welcomed Duncan Dee as Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications.
Dee, a seasoned airline industry veteran, previously served as Chief Operating Officer at Air Canada (AC) and has been a prominent airline analyst on Canadian media networks like CBC and CTV.
His expertise in internal and external communications will strengthen Spirit’s brand messaging and stakeholder engagement as the airline refines its public image.
Trey Urbahn joins as Senior Commercial Advisor, tasked with overseeing network planning, pricing, yield management, and onboard offerings.
Urbahn’s global experience across airlines such as Etihad Airways (EY), Breeze Airways (MX), Azul Brazilian Airlines (AD), TAP Air Portugal (TP), and JetBlue Airways (B6) equips him to enhance Spirit’s commercial strategy.
His role will focus on optimizing revenue streams and improving the guest experience, aligning with Spirit’s low-cost, high-value model.
These appointments complement Spirit’s existing executive team, including John Bendoraitis (COO), Fred Cromer (CFO), Thomas C. Canfield (General Counsel), Rana Ghosh (Chief Commercial Officer), Linde Grindle (Chief Human Resources Officer), and Rocky B. Wiggins (Chief Information Officer).
Together, they form a robust leadership group poised to execute Spirit’s transformation plan.

Commitment to Transformation
The new executives join an existing team, including COO John Bendoraitis and CFO Fred Cromer, signaling a unified push toward profitability and market competitiveness.
Milton highlighted frontline employees’ contributions, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to safety and service.
This leadership reshuffle positions Spirit Airlines for a renewed strategic direction, balancing cost discipline with customer-centric growth in a challenging aviation landscape.
Operating a fleet of Airbus aircraft from key hubs like Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and other major US airports, Spirit aims to solidify its position as a leading ultra-low-cost carrier.
The Board’s confidence in the expanded leadership team reflects a commitment to developing and executing a plan that propels Spirit Airlines forward.
By blending seasoned industry expertise with innovative strategies, the airline seeks to deliver consistent value to its stakeholders while maintaining its reputation for affordable travel.
