SpiceJet New Destinations and Flights

The carrier will systematically roll out these routes from 30 March 2025, with bookings now available. The expansion focuses on enhancing regional connectivity and providing travelers with more comprehensive travel options nationwide.

The Tuticorin route will establish critical air links, offering daily direct flights to Bengaluru and twice-daily connections to Chennai. This development enables passengers to complete same-day round trips, significantly improving travel convenience for business and leisure travelers.

Dehradun, widely recognized as a gateway to the Himalayan region, will now receive direct flight services from four major metropolitan centers: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai. This expansion opens up unprecedented access to the picturesque mountain destination.

Porbandar, a city steeped in historical significance, will receive exclusive non-stop Mumbai connectivity. The airline will operate twice-weekly flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting 1 April 2025, catering to both tourism and business travel segments.

Beyond these new destinations, SpiceJet will introduce additional routes to further strengthen domestic connectivity.

The airline plans to launch new flights connecting Ahmedabad with Srinagar and Pune with Varanasi. Moreover, it will reinstate crucial routes, reconnecting Bengaluru with Goa and Pune with Chennai.

The strategic expansion occurs against the backdrop of intensifying competition within the Indian aviation sector.

Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer at SpiceJet, articulated the airline’s forward-looking approach. “Our 24 new flights are designed to unlock travel possibilities across India’s diverse landscapes. From the scenic Himalayan gateway of Dehradun to the coastal charm of Tuticorin and the historical richness of Porbandar, we are expanding connectivity,” Maharshi emphasized.

Summer 2025 Schedule

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has projected a significant uptick in domestic air travel, anticipating a 5.5% increase in weekly flights for the upcoming summer season.

Indian airlines are set to operate 25,610 weekly flights across 129 airports nationwide, demonstrating a rise from 24,275 weekly departures recorded in the same period of 2024.

Despite the positive growth trajectory, the summer schedule reveals a modest 2% increase compared to the ongoing winter season. Supply chain constraints and aircraft delivery delays have tempered airlines’ expansion strategies, challenging their ability to rapidly scale operations.

IndiGo Airlines (6E) maintains its dominant market position, securing 14,158 weekly departures, while Air India (AI) follows with 4,310 flights and Air India Express (IX) with 3,375.

SpiceJet experiences a notable reduction in slot allocations, with weekly departures dropping from 1,657 to 1,240, representing a 25% decrease.

Navigating these challenges, SpiceJet remains committed to enhancing its domestic network. Further, the airline strategically focuses on introducing new routes that connect metropolitan centers with emerging tourist destinations, aiming to compensate for reduced operational slots through targeted route expansion.
