SINGAPORE- A chief flight attendant from a South Korean airline has been sentenced to four weeks in jail in Singapore (SIN) for secretly filming a female colleague in her hotel room bathroom.

The incident took place after a flight crew, including the accused and the victim, landed in Singapore (SIN) on April 27, 2025. Due to a court-imposed gag order, the name of the airline and the identities of those involved remain confidential.

Flight Attendant Jailed in Singapore

The 37-year-old male supervisor, a South Korean national, was found guilty of one count of voyeurism. The offense occurred in a hotel along Singapore’s East Coast where the crew was staying overnight after they arrived in the city.

The victim, a junior flight attendant under his supervision, had invited colleagues to her room for supper. Around 2:00 AM, the group entered her room, including the accused.

Unbeknownst to the others, the chief attendant brought a miniature camera with him. Hours later, around 4:00 AM, he discreetly entered the toilet, turned on the recording device, and placed it on the sink counter, aimed directly at the toilet bowl. To hide the camera, he covered it with the victim’s face towel.

Shortly afterward, the victim used the toilet. While no explicit footage of her private parts was captured, the device recorded her face and torso.

When she lifted the towel to use it, she discovered the camera still active, indicated by a blue recording light. Alarmed, she questioned her colleagues, but the accused stayed silent, CNA reported.

Victim Reported the Crime

Initially planning to report the matter to hotel management later in the morning, the victim grew increasingly distressed and called for help earlier. Hotel security alerted local police at 5:21 AM on April 27, 2025.

Although the crew departed Singapore on April 28, authorities arranged for the accused to return on May 16, when he was arrested. The court documents did not specify how the camera was linked to the accused, but his silence and presence in the room were critical to the case.

The victim, traumatized by the betrayal, has since undergone psychiatric treatment in South Korea. She has been diagnosed with symptoms of depression, anxiety, and insomnia, and has taken over two weeks of leave from work.

Court Sentencing

The prosecution sought a jail term of six to seven weeks, highlighting the victim’s psychological trauma and breach of trust. The defense, led by lawyer Ahn Mimi, requested a reduced sentence of four weeks and said the accused would offer voluntary compensation to the victim.

Ultimately, the Singapore court sentenced the man to four weeks in jail. The maximum penalty for voyeurism under Singapore law includes up to two years in jail, a fine, caning, or a combination thereof.

This case has raised serious concerns about crew conduct, trust boundaries, and passenger safety, particularly given the offender’s senior role. The betrayal of professional trust has had lasting effects on the victim, who had considered the man a mentor.
