Donald Tusk said in the spring of that year that we were surviving in the pre-war era. The chief of the NSA says we have 3 years to prepare for a confrontation. This means that, according to the Prime Minister and the president who have access to secret reports and information, we may shortly face war. Unfortunately, it is hard to have the impression that our country is actually working towards preparing us for defence.
For years, we've only heard what we'll have. Politicians have been talking for years about large plans to strengthen the military, about what we'll have someday. At this time, we are becoming weaker, we have less and less equipment, less reserves, less and less weapons production capabilities.
Let's see what we've got, not what we've got.
We have a complete mess in command.. The Armed Forces management and command strategy was already changed respective times after the fall of the PRL. The president has late proposed a fresh change. The command system, the decision-making process is unclear and complex, and the commander-general of the types of armed forces is the man who in his full life commanded at most a peculiar regiment. 2 years ago, the Law on the defence of the Land came into force. The 12 essential regulations have not yet been issued. As a result, the Polish Army cannot legally mobilize.
We've got immense hardware shortages.. We gave back quite a few equipment to Ukraine, and we haven't completed it yet. Our number of tanks has fallen to the lowest level since the 1940s erstwhile there was no Polish state. We produce and have trace amounts of ammunition. We produce 30,000 artillery ammunition each year. The Russians consume 10,000 units a day, and in the course of the offensive even 50,000 units. Our yearly production lasts for 3 days, What's more, we just make this ammunition out of items purchased abroad.
The Germans have late started building an artillery mill that can produce 200,000 pieces a year. Cost? Only EUR 200 million. We spent almost the same amount on laptops for 4th graders, the ammunition mill wasn't adequate money. Our capabilities to produce weapons and ammunition are gradually disappearing. State companies are inefficient, and private Polish companies are boycotted by our state, which is why they cannot develop. Even the uniforms and anti-tank grenade launchers would seem simple, we order abroad.

We don't have any reserves either. We have an army mobilized for war time that has no 1 to mobilize. The average age of Polish reservist is about 50 years. Among the 20 - 30 - year - olds, there is no 1 to mobilize. Sending a soldier to the front requires a very long training, otherwise a certain and meaningless death awaits him. The Russians send soldiers to conflict after 9 months of essential military service and 3 months of adaptation, that is, after a year. We number as a reserve of men, after a period of training as part of the Voluntary Basic Military Service. Even in early 1945, erstwhile the front had completely fallen to Germany, their command banned sending soldiers to combat after little than 8 weeks of training, due to the fact that it was a pointless waste of life without crucial benefits to the military.

Ukrainians have been spilling blood for over 2 years to give us time to prepare for the worst. What have Polish governments done about this time?
When the virus appeared, they acted quickly, there was a mountain of money immediately, the full country took care of the virus, introduced a fresh law, disabled the operation of a multitude of regulations, downloaded medical resources from all over the world, started production everywhere possible. And now? We have a serious threat to the full state, a hazard of war on Russia and a beach in government. No 1 cares about anything, no mass training, no weapons and ammunition factories, no civilian defense, not even key regulations.
Politicians limited themselves to ordering costly abroad weapons, to spending tens of billions of PLN to keep abroad arms companies. It's good to have costly toys, but they'll come in many years, they'll make us dependent on abroad supplies, they'll drain the military budget, and we request to have defence capabilities soon.
What must be done urgently?
Training for seniors. It is simply a terrible negligence that we have another year of war, and we have not yet begun mass reserve training.
Liberalisation of the 2019 Act on the production of weapons, which practically prevents the improvement of the Polish private arms sector. The current level of regulations and requirements is so absurd that Ukrainian arms companies, who wanted to decision production to Poland after the war, had to give it up due to the fact that they did not have a fewer years to meet the requirements.
Construction of Polish capabilities for the production of weapons and ammunition. Large orders must be guaranteed to Polish entrepreneurs, as well as to pay for maintaining the ability to produce weapons and ammunition during the war.
Denunciation of the Ottawa Convention on the Prohibition of the usage and Production of Anti-personnel Mines. It's imperative that we retreat from it. This was not signed by the US, Russia, China, India, Israel and Egypt. Anti-personnel mines are defensive weapons that better defend our borders. There's no reason not to usage that gun. If it had not been for the mines Ukraine would not have been able to effectively defend itself against Russia.
We've wasted years. We don't have any more time. alternatively of preparing for a possible defensive war, the PiS was preparing for a war with the Platform, and the Platform for a war with the PiS. In terms of the number of tanks or reserves, we have the weakest armed forces since the 1940s. And that's erstwhile the most armed forces we need.
You have ruled this country for 20 years. You are liable for Poland's readiness to defend. Let's get real. We want peace, so we gotta prepare for war. If we can't defend ourselves, no 1 else will.
