In mid-February this year, details of the report, which was prepared after the control of the Polish Filmmakers Association (SFP). It shows that the erstwhile board made immense money, as well as a generous hand spent on alcohol and limousines. The audit was carried out on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, commissioned by the Minister, Hanna Wróblewski, to analyse the settlement of contracts and selected expenses incurred between 2020 and 2024.
Massive earnings of the head of SFP
The financial analysis of the SFP revealed that the erstwhile president, Jacek Bromski, earned over PLN 3 million 700 1000 between January 2020 and 24 February 2024. Even more was earned by the manager of the SFP office, Ewa Szacha-Głuchowicz, who received almost 5 million PLN 600 1000 in the same period. These salaries came from the alleged royalties deductions that SFP charges on behalf of the creators for utilizing their works.
Expenditure on alcohol and limousine
The audit besides revealed that the SFP spent immense amounts on alcohol and limousines. During the controlled period, only PLN 163 1000 were allocated to social aids, artistic scholarships for young filmmakers – PLN 199 thousand, while for alcohol – PLN 245 thousand. In addition, SFP utilized 12 cars, including 4 Lexus and Porsche Macan.
Control and consequences
The study of the ministry indicates inappropriate supervision of the activities of president Jacek Bromski from the Management Board of the SFP and the Audit Committee. If no changes are made, Minister Hanna Wróblewski may impose a punishment of up to PLN 1 million on the organization, or even revoke the collective management permit, which would be a dramatic blow to the full movie environment.
Reactions and evaluations
Former SFP president, Jacek Bromski, assessed the MKiDN audit study as an effort to unduly undermine the credibility of the Polish Filmmakers Association in the eyes of users – copyright payers. He besides informed that he was considering taking legal steps towards the ministry. The Deputy Head of the Ministry of Culture, Maciej Wróbel, stated that the immense amounts that were spent on the activities of the Polish Filmmakers Association were of concern to the controlling and the post-control speech was directed to the fresh board. It can't be ruled out that the case finds the final in the D.A.'s office.
