Ryanair London to Greece Flight Crash

Flight FR6080, operated by Ryanair (FR), departed London Stansted Airport (STN) on the morning of June 18 and experienced turbulence en route to Kalamata International Airport (KLX), Greece.

Upon a successful runway landing, the aircraft deviated during taxi and struck a ground barrier, causing visible damage to the right wingtip.

Eyewitnesses on the flight described a “loud bang” as the Boeing 737 made contact with the barrier. Photographs shared online showed the wing’s metal sheared and torn at the tip, indicating a high-impact collision.

Although there were no injuries, passengers remained inside the aircraft under crew direction while awaiting inspection by airport emergency responders.

Turbulence and Impact Raise Safety Concerns

Passengers onboard reported experiencing severe turbulence during descent, with no prior seatbelt alert issued.

The captain warned of a rough landing, but the greater shock came post-landing during taxi, when the wing impacted a red-and-white perimeter fence.

Confusion reportedly spread among passengers as the crew instructed them to stay seated despite visible wing damage and perceived fire risk. Several questioned the delay in evacuation, citing concerns over the potential for fire due to the proximity of damaged fuel systems.

Ryanair later clarified that the wingtip made contact with the fence while taxiing to stand and that the aircraft completed the taxiing process safely before passengers disembarked normally. The airline confirmed that the aircraft underwent inspection and was cleared for service.

Aircraft Repaired and Back in Service

Following the incident, the affected Boeing 737 underwent a full maintenance inspection per regulatory procedures.

Ryanair confirmed the aircraft was repaired and had returned to active service, operating a return flight to London Stansted shortly thereafter.

The airline did not indicate any disruption to its flight schedule due to the incident, and no formal investigation has been announced as of this writing. However, passenger accounts and photos have prompted discussions around ground movement safety protocols and turbulence management procedures.
