Due to today's information about the death of Fr Tadeusz Isakowicz-Zaleski, an online collection of signatures was launched under a petition addressed to the president of Poland Andrzej Dudu to grant the spiritual Order of the White Eagle. Below we present the content of the petition addressed to the head of state.
On behalf of many citizens who admire and appreciate the invaluable contribution to the past of our country made by the late priest Tadeusz Isakowicz-Zaleski We urge you to grant him the Order of the White Eagle.
Fr Isakovich-Zaleski was an unbreakable priest, socialist and defender of historical fact and good name of the Church. He was not afraid to reprove our fellow countrymen in the Borderlands. His Life’s Work and Fearless Attitude In the fight for justice, they deserve a peculiar distinction. Therefore, we call for posthumously giving the Order of the White Eagle to this unique Pole.
His life's mission, his dedication to the common good, as well as his constant pursuit of justice, made Priest Isakowicz-Zaleski 1 of the most crucial figures of our time. His actions made him moral authority for quite a few people.
In giving the Order of the White Eagle to Isakovich-Zaleski we see not only appreciation for his individual sacrifice, but besides an expression of respect for the values he represented and which are the foundation of our community. He was a well-deserved figure in many areas of social life. Priest, poet, writer, historian. He was a repressive activist during the period of the Polish People's Republic, became a pastor of Kresovian and A fighter in the fight for a worthy burial for Poles murdered in Volyn.
In 2008, he made an appeal for Polish authorities to condemn the genocide of Poles by the CNS-UPA in Volyn and east Małopolska. He was besides president of the “Memoria et Veritas” Kres Foundation founded by him and organizer of yearly school competitions of cognition about Kresach and president of the honorary committee of building the monument “Rzeź Wołyńska”, a chisel of prof. Andrzej Pityński, in the village of Domastawa in Jarocin Municipality in Podkarpacie. He besides supported the Community and Memory Association action under the motto "Bołyń na Powązki". He fought to call genocide by name, without euphemisms and half truths. He saw that the subject of the Volyn genocide was overlooked and no real action was taken. He protested against the glorification of criminals.
It is not possible in a short text to describe all his merits and accomplishments.
We firmly believe that this symbolic motion is simply a well-deserved form of honoring this unique figure, who will forever leave a lasting mark in Poland's history. At the same time, we hope that giving this highest state award to Isakowicz-Zalecki will be an inspiration for present and future generations to engage in social affairs and concern for the common good. There are fewer people in our time who deserve this award. Fr Tadeusz should undoubtedly be honored.
With respect,
concerned Poles
