Editor-in-chief of “Highest Time!” Tomasz Sommer sued Rafał Pankowski – co-founder of “Never More”. The dispute relates to statements in which Pankowski accused Sommer of “distorting the pogrom in Jedwabne” and promoting “anti-Semitic conspiracy theories”. Sommer considered these words slanderous and brought the case to trial. There is so an interesting process about the limits of public debate and the work for the word, akin to the ongoing trial of the chief of the OMZRiK, Konrad Dulkowski, who was sued by the editor-in-chief Magna Polonia, Radosław Patlewicz.
The process of the leader of the hawk "Never Again" begins. The suit was already sent in the fall of 2025, nevertheless – according to the information provided by the advanced Time – he was not effectively served for respective months. Only late the papers were officially sent to the addressee. In response, the "Never More" community began to present the substance as an effort to limit freedom of speech and criticism in public debate.
This line of defence is controversial, as critics of the association have accused him of applying double standards for years. An organization that declares a fight for respect for the law in Poland and demands sanctions against people who are considered “racists” or “extremists”, in the case of its own legal problems, avoids receiving judicial writings and cites freedom of expression. The dispute with Sommer is not the first situation erstwhile the activity “Never More” has generated sharp reactions. 1 of the most celebrated examples is the Simon Mol case. A Cameroonian anti-racist, who received the title “Antifascist of the Year 2003” from the association, was accused of knowingly infecting Polish women with HIV.
According to investigative findings, Mol was to keep relationships with many left-wing activists for years and not inform them of his infectious disease. In the course of the investigation, respective victims reported, and the case became 1 of the louder moral scandals in Poland in the first decade of the 21st century. Interestingly, according to any reports, Mol had yet to hear in Africa about a shaman that he could get free of his illness by passing it on to women.
Critics "Never More" match this case as an example of spectacular hypocrisy and the emptiness of the "anti-racist" environment, which previously portrayed Mola as a symbol of the fight against prejudice and racism. It wasn't until after the affair broke out that his image changed dramatically.
This is not the end of the controversy around the hawk "Never More". The association has been moving the run "Let's dig racism out of stadiums" for years, working with football organizations and monitoring the behaviour of fans. Part of the sports community accuses him of excessive interference in public life and political explanation of various events – including criticizing football-related people for participating in legal political events. This was the case, for example, with justice Szymon Marciniak, on whom the female reported to UEFA for participating in a legal economical event organised by Sławomir Mentzen.
The Pankowski–Sommer case goes beyond the individual dispute between 2 publicists. It touches on a much broader problem: the limits of freedom of speech, left-wing hypocrisy and the function of social organisations in shaping public debate.
