Anniversary of the Sweep in Jedwabne

As all year, the Left celebrated the memory of the victims of the pogrom in Jedwabne – Polish Jews murdered on July 10, 1941 by their Polish neighbours, who were inspired by German occupiers.

The past of Poland besides has its tragic and painful cards. It is our work to remember them – not to divide them, but to draw conclusions. That is why today, Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty and I put flowers in memory of the murdered.

President Aleksander Kwasniewski said during the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the crime in Jedwabne:

‘Sorry. On behalf of his and those Poles whose conscience is moved by this crime.”

Truth and memory are the foundation of a liable community.
