For the last 2 weeks, we have considered God’s Word in Acts 1: 1: “When the Holy Spirit descends upon you, you will receive his power and be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.”. So we request to witness to people, as we discussed in our short survey of witnessing. We must bear witness, that is, to be martyrs, even at the price of persecution, ridicule, and even at the cost of losing our own lives, as did the apostles. We must be witnesses of the surviving Jesus who was crucified and resurrected! For forty days after his resurrection, he appeared not only to the apostles, but besides to respective 100 people, proving his divinity.
Now, for 2 weeks, we are to proceed to consider the subject of witnessing. We can revive any of the truths from our erstwhile survey that are rich in Bible quotations. It besides contains instructions on precisely how we should bear witness in word and in life. Now let us consider the subject of the witness to our lives. Jesus calls us to this: “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”.
What light should shine before humans? The light of Christ's truth, which we have adopted internally and which we are implementing in a peculiar situation, setting a good example for people. Parents rise their children not in words but in example. The proverb says, "Words encourage and examples attract." individual may talk well of faith, of the Lord Jesus, but with his life and bad habits he actually denies what he says. And that's a shame. Therefore, we request to realize the importance of setting a good example for our fellowmen: through our patience, forgiveness, willingness to help, advise, encourage, erstwhile we share their pain, we give good advice. Let us show them the example of our life that we take God and his laws seriously, trying to obey and respect them. People should praise our Father for our good life. In fact, we are advertising to our Heavenly Father with testimonies of our lives. Those who have weak religion can be encouraged to trust in him. Those who do not believe can start reasoning about how to find a way to God. Without God, man is miserable on earth and then unhappy for all eternity. Even if no 1 praises us, he does not accept us, but, on the contrary, ridicules us, we must witness to God with our lives. There is so a witness in words and a evidence in life. Both are necessary.
