March 2025 proved to be a evidence period in terms of temperatures worldwide, especially in Europe, which experienced the warmest March in its history. This phenomenon is another alarm signal about the progressive climate warming, which has global consequences for the environment.

According to Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), March 2025 was the second warmest March in planet past and the warmest always recorded in Europe. Dr. Samantha Burgess, the climate strategical leader at the ECMWF, said that "March 2025 was the warmest March in Europe, which reiterates how temperatures keep breaking records."

Average Global Temperature
The average global air surface temperature in March was 14.06°C, which represents 1.6°C above pre-industrial average for March. This is the 20th period of the last 21, in which the average global temperature exceeded pre-industrial level by 1.5°C – the key threshold set in the Paris Agreement.

The Warmest Period in History
The period from April 2024 to March 2025 was besides the warmest specified period in history, with an average temperature of 1.59°C higher than the pre-industrial level and 0.71°C higher than the 1991–2020 average.

Europe
In Europe, March 2025 proved to be the warmest in history, with an average temperature on land of 6.03°C – 2.41°C above the 1991–2020 average. The largest thermal anomalies occurred in east Europe and southwestern Russia, while colder than usual temperatures were recorded in the Iberian Peninsula.

Global Events
Globally, higher temperatures than usual have been recorded in the Arctic, especially over the Canadian Archipelago and Baffin Bay, as well as in the United States, Mexico, parts of Asia and Australia. Colder than average conditions occurred in northern Canada, Hudson Bay and east Russia, including the Kamchatka Peninsula.

Surface temperatures of the Sea
Sea surface temperatures (SST) remained exceptionally high. The average global surface temperature of the seas in March was 20.96°C, which is the second highest score in past for this period and only by 0.12°C little than the March 2024 record.

Ice Cover
The Arctic Ice Cover has reached the lowest level in the past of satellite measurements, at 6% below average. Since March is usually the highest of the Arctic ice cover, this means the lowest yearly maximum always recorded. Antarctica's ice cover was 24% smaller than the average, meaning its quadruple lowest scope in March.

Precipitation patterns
The patterns of precipitation in and outside Europe were marked by clear contrasts. confederate Europe, including the storm-stricken Iberian Peninsula, experienced more humid conditions than usual, while the central and east parts of the continent were highly dry. In the world, wetlands were more humid than usual in east Canada, the western United States, the mediate East, and parts of Russia, Asia, and Africa. Meanwhile, much of North America, Asia, Australia, and South Africa have been affected by conditions more dry than average.
