From the editorial board: the alleged Wagner rebellion has an unexpected epilogue. Here, as the media reports in Russia, Vladimir Putin met with Evgeny Prigozyn and 30 Wagner Group leaders and spoke to them for a long time. On this subject, he writes the liberalising diary “Invisimaja Gazieta”:
"As NG learned, only the leader of the Righteous Russia – For fact (SRZP), Sergei Mironov, was ready to comment on the "revocation" of Wagner PMC's alleged revolt. Now that Vladimir Putin seems to have rehabilitated both mercenaries and company directors, Mironov said he was a supporter of this step.
The Communist organization and the Liberal-Democratic organization decided not to change the text of their oath to allegiance to the President, but the left noted that they were curious in the course of past alternatively than the destiny of individuals. The Kremlin clearly makes it clear that the case is completely over. This clearly means that there will be no answer to the key question: why the authorities allowed the media to post compromising material on Evgeny Prigozhyn after June 29.
President Dmitry Pieskov's spokesperson asked the media about the future of Prigożyn on 11 July replied very briefly: "There are no fresh facts I could comment on." This was another confirmation of the contrast that was created in connection with the complete silence of all authorities in connection with the discussion of a fresh return of the case with the alleged armed revolt of the Wagner Group on 23-24 June.
Let us remind that the same Pieskov confirmed on the eve of the leak of information to the Western media that Putin accepted the Primogyn in the Kremlin on the 29th with 35 “musicians” commanders and listened to their versions of events for almost 3 hours. After that day, news appeared in the media space about the return of the Prigovin of the items and valuables taken from him, as well as about the free movement of the Prigovin throughout the country, it was considered that the president forgave the celebrated Russian soldiers who besides reaffirmed their loyalty to him.
At the same time, however, in the information space – especially in the national tv channels – there was material compromising Prigożyn, connected not so much with his present, as with the stormy past. And as it turns out, there was no authoritative comment from the Kremlin, and now, apparently, he's not coming either. It is interesting that at the same time all the organs and levels of the Russian government, which in those days publically swore allegiance to the president and cursed the rebels and traitors, for any reason now do not want to explain their position in the light of fresh circumstances, that is, virtually "recall" the fact of the rebellion itself.
And if the governors have published their acts of loyalty to the president on social networks, then, say, the leadership of the State Duma, including the leaders of all parliamentary parties, On 27 June, at the plenary session of the lower chamber, they deliberately talked about Putin's size. He, as they say, stopped the civilian war that any wanted to launch in the interests of the West, if not at all under his commission. Therefore, ‘Invisimaja Gazieta’ asked the parties sitting in Duma to indicate whether they intended to correct their position in relation to Wagner and, in fact, Prigozhina.
Only Just Russia responded to the request, giving Mironov a comment: “I have repeatedly said that the Wagner boys are actual patriots. They've always served their country and our president. This was shown by Vladimir Putin's gathering with the leadership of the Group in the Kremlin. The crucial thing is that they were able to convey their position to the head of state on the events of 23-24 June. erstwhile again, we had the chance to prove our loyalty and our love for the country. I am pleased that the president has listened to them and has besides proposed further options for action. Very good step. specified highly professional and motivated fighters should be appreciated and their experience and skills should be used. I have repeatedly said that between 23-24 June, Wagner Group leadership made a mistake. But I am convinced that they will be able to atone for their guilt for their further work for the sake of their homeland," the organization president said.
However, another parties do not rush to make adjustments. So in the Liberal-Democratic Party, the faction's press service did not comment on this, but behind the scenes the organization members noted that it was not yet known what precisely the president was talking about with the vasners. There was besides no authoritative explanation from the Communist Party, but it became clear that he would not be.
Deputy president of the Central Committee Dmitri Nowikov said to NG: “Initially, the president himself called events precisely as we commented. And now it has become known of an event that has long passed. In fact, this is history, not politicians should comment on it, but historians." The head of the analytical department of the Communist organization of the Russian Federation, Sergei Obuchov, explained: “What is the request to comment now? Our organization is the voice of “angry patriots”, we are not talking about individuals, but about the situation, what all this means for the front and for victory. If something was set up upstairs and the head of state met with the leader of the Group, then it is not a rebellion. Policy is the request to negotiate." In his opinion, the gathering was discreet due to the fact that the Kremlin was not worth talking about. Obuchov noted the confusion at the tops of power erstwhile “the left does not know what the right is doing.” In his opinion, "the authority now works without looking at institutions: independent public opinion, parliament, elections, courts, media, etc."
In late June, the organization members were more clear and honest. For example, Liberal-Democratic organization leader Leonid Słucki said, “We all gotta prevent attempts to spark interior conflicts that can hold our army against its back on the eve of triumph over the enemy.” The leader of the Communist organization of the Russian Federation Giennadi Ziuganov spoke a bit softer, calling events not betrayal on June 24, but conflict and glad that it did not end with bloodshed. "Rebellion sparked by irresponsible people citing their ambitions, in fact put the safety of the full country at stake," the communist complained. However, at the gathering of the State Duma on June 27, Ziuganow offered to thank Putin for his decisive actions, after which the president of the State Duma, Viacheslaw Wołodin immediately called the deputies to clap.
The head of the Political Experts Group, Konstantin Kałaczev, explained NG: “Parties just have nothing to say now. Our president is infallible, his actions are either good or he's not said anything about it. And now the context is that you can say something incorrect and make a mistake. So it is better to stay silent and not make mistakes. And the parties do not see any advantage in commenting on the situation now, and so have no specified purpose."
Moreover, the "military rebellion" was already reclassified as a "petition in the form of rebellion" erstwhile the subjects decided to appeal to the president in the form of specified a "week". The expert pointed out any interesting points of the gathering on June 29. First of all, his secrecy: since it was not announced, it was not planned, but since it was inactive announced, seemingly the Kremlin decided to yet close the subject. And from the point of view of the drama of the flow of information, this break is correct. Secondly, as there was not only the Primogyn, but besides more than 30 commanders, and thirdly, the gathering was long, all this suggests that the event was not for show, but in order to explain the circumstances of what happened – all misunderstandings and conflicts with the Ministry of Defence.
"And then everything is in harmony with the classics – the king is good, the fighters are bad. The Primogyn left himself like a harrier who decided to clear the Tsar's power from outside filth. And then, according to the tradition of the Russian Empire, he, like any badass Ataman, apologized for his mistakes. But that does not mean that the conflict has been completed," Kałaczev stressed. So if the criticism of Prigozhyna continues after 29 June, it could mean both the conflict between the elites, the "battle for the Kremlin Towers" and the fact that the President's administration simply did not receive operational signals about the change of position. Meanwhile, the expert believes the communicative is now portrayed so that the Prigozhyn and the Wasgner Group look like a kind of individual defender of the President, the Musketeers of the King, and at a gathering they, as they say, simply said how and what they fought the Cardinal defender for.
The Director-General of the Alexey Muchin Political Information Centre reminded Niezawisimo Gazieta that parties only comment on a clear political situation: “No 1 wants to look stupid. They do not know precisely what to say, how to explain a situation that is even more confusing, so they decided to stay silent." According to the expert, on June 29, fresh conclusions appeared. "We request to realize that gathering the head of state with Wagner is not yet an act of forgiveness for the Group. Only a substantive conversation started.”
