Extra holidays on Saturday
In 2025, 2 holidays come on Saturday: 3 May (National Day of the 3rd May) and 1 November (All Saints). According to Article 130(2) of the Labour Code, the employer must designate additional days off for workers for whom Saturday is simply a day off resulting from an average of 5 days of work week.
Provisions
Article 130(2) of the Labour Code:
‘If, in accordance with the established work organisation or agenda of working time, a individual is obliged to work on the day on which the public vacation is simply a public holiday, that day shall be a public holiday.’
A vacation on a day another than Sunday reduces the working time in a given settlement period by 8 hours. The employer shall designate another day off in the same period as the holiday. If he does not do so, the worker is entitled to a claim for additional remuneration for work in overtime.
