Janez Lenarčiča, European Commissioner for improvement and Humanitarian Aid, made it clear in the flood debate that:
"In Central and east Europe, we have been closely monitoring the situation since 9 September, providing regular updates from the Crisis Coordination Centre – our 24h crisis centre in Brussels – while working closely with the Joint investigation Centre. We have remained in 24-hour contact with emergency services affected by the crisis associate States (...) from 10 September we have provided early warnings for areas at risk, working with national authorities to rise awareness and offer assistance and sending more than 100 warnings to authorities throughout the region until 13 September."
Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the Polish government ignored information that was expected to rise awareness of the scale of flood risk!!!
