President Karol Nawrocki decided to veto amendments to the Law on Education. The proposed version showed a crucial decrease in the function of the Polish language in primary school education. The function of the Catholic Church was to be reduced in teaching history. There was besides a noticeable simplification in the subject of puberty in nature and biology classes, with its presence at wellness education, which indicated the intention to make wellness education compulsory.
The president blocked another act of diversion of the left in the Polish school. Until 18 December there was a public consultation on the fresh programme basis for Polish schools. He gave his position on this substance to the Ministry of National Education, among others, the Ordo Iuris Institute. The fresh curriculum for primary schools was to be part of the revolutionary changes introduced by the Ministry of National Education as part of the improvement referred to as "Reforma26. Compass Tomorrow".
The Ministry of National Education, ruled by the far left, wanted to quit compulsory teaching content. The fresh basis was to be expressed, among another things, by the expected "learning outcomes", as well as the requirements for "educational experiences". The introduction, in particular, of the second would limit the freedom of the teacher to apply the teaching and education methods which he considers to be the most appropriate amongst those recognised by contemporary pedagogical sciences, which is guaranteed by Article 12(2) of the Teacher's Charter.
In the school curriculum task is peculiarly worrying reducing the function of Polish language throughout education in primary school. The focus mainly on the communication function of the language marginalises its cultural and identity role. This risks not identifying future generations of Poles with the Polish language as a key binder of the national community.
In addition, classes 1-3 plan to remove an example, optional reading set, which present plays an crucial function in conveying cultural code and bringing together generations and in developing cognitive and emotional students. In classes 4-6, the mandatory list of readings is to be removed in full and replaced by an unordered list of many texts as any reading proposals to be made by the student in cooperation with the teacher.
In the 7-8 classes, the number of compulsory readings has been narrowed down to 4 longer texts per year, which makes it possible for the student to limit his cognition and contact with Polish literature to the sum full of respective simplest items from a short list.
In addition, the question of ‘identity’ was taken into account in the residual form of the last, alternatively than the first, in classes 4-8, among the objectives of teaching the Polish language, in relation to the national culture, which, however, was mentioned at the same time in local, European and global culture. This nonsubjective is complemented by a request that it be carried out "with respect to the environmental and climate impacts of man".
Project objectives the past programming basis, not only do they not repair harm after reducing content in 2024, but they deepen the crisis of historical education in Poland. In the opinion of Ordo Iuris, actions taken by the Ministry of Education from 2024 should be considered destructive to historical education, as they lead to a break with the culture of entrenching by rejecting constitutional elements for Latin civilization and national Polish culture.
The Institute besides points out that the MEN submitted Proposals for fresh framework curricula entail a simplification in the number of hours of past in classes IV-VIII by at least 1 in the full course of education.
When examining the draft regulation setting out the programme basis for primary schools, Ordo Iuris notes a simplification in the subject of puberty in nature and biology classes and its presence in wellness education. specified a shift may be evidenced by the preparation of the ground for making wellness education, with elements of permissive sex education, a compulsory subject from next school year.
It is all the more likely that MEN's management does not hide that, in his opinion, these classes should be compulsory, and this is contrary to the will of most parents in Poland, as evidenced by the only 30% turnout on "health education" at national level.
In the analysis sent to the MEN, notwithstanding the detailed comments on the selected items, The Institute besides pointed out the inappropriate form of a fresh curriculum, resembling a more central curriculum, which should be set at the level of a peculiar school, as well as incorrect anthropological, teaching and pedagogical assumptions.
It was besides pointed out that the centre of the changes to the education system, including the curriculum for general education, included the "Alumni profile and graduates of kindergarten and primary school", which, according to the authors, is to "determine the competences, cognition and attitudes of the student ending the educational phase", and to act as a "compasse" that organizes the educational objectives and makes them more transparent to pupils, parents and teachers.
However, the analysis of the content and the way in which this paper is introduced shows that its function goes far beyond the declarative arrangement of teaching objectives. In fact, it is simply a paper that reorients all education, basing it on an ideological, detached, realistic anthropology of man's vision, and besides without any authority in the provisions of educational law.
Together with comments on the programme bases, the results of the investigation conducted by the Coalition for the Salvation of the Polish School, concerning the implementation by the Ministry of Education of Reforms, were sent to MEN. These studies, from 23 November to 14 December 2025, active 2057 respondents, which is small little than in consultation to the “Alumni and postgraduate profile” carried out by the subordinate Ministry of Education investigation Institute (from 27 September to 31 October 2024, i.e. longer lasting), attended by about 2,900 people.
KROPS investigation revealed the dominant criticism of Poles about the changes proposed by the MEN. Respondents expressed their strong opposition to the detailed changes in the basis, to the full "Reformy26", to the way the consultation process was consulted and to the request for improvement at specified a advanced rate.
In the final part of the comments sent to MEN, it was stressed that if the president of Poland vetoed the Act of 21 November 2025 amending the Act – Education law and any another laws that alter the definition of the programme basis, the proposed regulation in its present form would go beyond the statutory delegation referred to in Article 47(1)(a) and (b) of the Act of 14 December 2016. - Educational law.
Yesterday, Karol Nawrocki decided to veto the bill. Representatives of KROPS, including the Ordo Iuris Institute, attended a gathering last Wednesday with representatives of the President, devoted to reforms in education. The event took place at the Presidential Palace and gathered a delegation of many organizations and environments.
