Italian spiritual Seminaries will receive candidates for priests who have intellectual problems with alleged sexual orientation. This shocking decision, breaking the tradition and practice of the Church, was besides approved by the Vatican.
The Pope opens seminars before sodomites. With his support, Italian bishops decided to make liberal changes in the admission to the seminary of clergy candidates to the priestly state. So far, throughout the Catholic Church, men who wanted to enter the seminary had to make it clear that they were not homosexual. These provisions were clearly presented, among others, in a paper prepared by the Congregation for Catholic Education since 1996 and yet approved by Pope Benedict XVI in 2005.
The Italian bishops, however, decided to break the tradition and regulations prescribed by the pope. They decided that homosexuals would besides be admitted to the seminars. The only condition is to declare that despite their homosexual tendencies they will live in purity. Implemented regulations will apply for the next 3 years. The decision of the bishops had already accepted the Vatican.
The bishops point out in their paper that the Church cannot make seminars available and let people who are active homosexuals or "support the alleged gay culture". However, they indicate that homosexual tendencies alone should not be a clear obstacle to entering a seminary.
"In the formation process, erstwhile it comes to homosexual tendencies, it is besides not essential to limit discernment to this aspect only, but, as in the case of each candidate, to capture its meaning within the general framework of the personality of the young man, so that, by learning 1 another and integrating the objectives of appropriate human and priestly vocation, he can accomplish overall harmony," says the Italian bishops' document.
WArto remind that in 2005 Pope Benedict XVI approved the final version of the paper entitled "Instructions on criteria for recognizing vocation in relation to people with homosexual tendencies in the context of accepting them for seminars and allowing them to be ordained". In this document, sodomy was considered an obstacle to priestly ordination and spiritual life.
"The profoundly rooted homosexual tendencies that are found among a number of men and women are besides objectively disorderly and for themselves, frequently a test. specified persons must be treated with respect and sensitivity. ...
In the light of specified teaching, this Congregation, in agreement with the Congregation for the Worship of God and the Discipline of the Sacraments, considers it essential to state clearly that the Church, profoundly respecting the people concerned, must not let the seminary or the consecration of those who practice homosexuality to show deep-rooted homosexual tendencies or support the alleged gay culture." – it was written in a paper of the Congregation for Catholic Education approved in 2005 by Benedict XVI.
