On 29 September the West Pomeranian KAS informed about the acquisition of over 600 litres of illegal alcohol worth nearly PLN 60 1000 in Koszalin. Police and Border defender participated in the action and 55-year-old Polish citizen was detained. Found packages indicate preparation for distribution. client wellness and marketplace integrity are at stake.
Over 600 litres of alcohol outside of legal turnover
Officers of the West Pomeranian National taxation Administration secured in Koszalin over 600 litres of alcohol of unknown origin. Its marketplace value was estimated at almost PLN 60 thousand. Activities were carried out jointly with police officers and border guards.
A 55-year-old Polish citizen was detained in connection with the case. The origin does not state whether a man has heard the charges, so his work must not be determined. The law enforcement authorities will decide on the continuation of proceedings and the court can only state the blame.
During service activities, they besides found bottles, nuts and labels. Sebastian Osiński, spokesperson for the Chamber of taxation Administration in Szczecin, assessed that the items may indicate the preparation of alcohol for spilling and further distribution. The communication shall not contain information on the results of the laboratory tests of the secured liquid.
Health and legal firms at risk
Alcohol sold outside of legal turnover hits law-abiding entrepreneurs and reduces public debt. Even more serious is the hazard to humans. The purchaser does not know the composition of the product or the terms of its manufacture. It is besides uncertain whether the liquid was intended for consumption.
National taxation Administration warnsthat products from illegal sources may be produced under conditions that do not meet the sanitary requirements and that chemical products may be utilized for their production. This general informing should not be confused with the test results of alcohol taken over in Koszalin. In this peculiar case, no specified results are given.
This is another large action in the region. Just a fewer days earlier KAS secured in Koszalin nearly 250 litres of alcohol from illegal production. Repeated disclosures show that the grey region is not a small, folkloristic activity. This is simply a marketplace where the consumer is left unprotected, the legal maker bears costs and the state loses control of the goods entering the market.
The State has a work to defend fair trade
Economic freedom requires simple rules and reasonable taxes. However, it does not mean to indulge in trade in a product of unknown composition. The honest entrepreneur pays the excise duty, meets the standards and is liable for quality. A vendor operating outside the strategy transfers all risks to the client and competes with legitimate business without bearing the same costs.
The effective actions of the services are needed, but the confiscation itself does not close the case. The authorities should find the origin of the alcohol, the planned sales channel and the individual liable for the proceedings, while retaining all procedural guarantees. For Poles, the circumstantial effect is important: a dangerous or untested product cannot be placed on the household table, and the right is to defend those who operate honestly.
