Magdalena Ziętek-Welomska: Dear Readers, I am pleased to inform you that my fresh book has just been published by the Pro Vita Bon Foundation "German Dream of Empire". Why did I compose it? due to the fact that a fewer days after the start of the war in Ukraine German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced the turning point of German abroad policy, which was immediately covered with the slogan “Zeitenwende”. Anyone who knows the past of German politics knows that Germany loves specified labels – for example, after Bismarck's departure they had Neuer Course and Willy Brandt started Neue Ostpolitik. Therefore, specified slogans should be taken absolutely seriously, due to the fact that they treat them that way. In short: Germany has declared to the planet that the rules in force after 1945 are simply over and Putin is guilty. They now request to revise their full abroad policy since 1945 to adapt it to fresh circumstances. What are the circumstances? The very fact that Russia started the war is proof that the era of American hegemony is ending. With all the consequences. The most emphasized by the Germans is that America is no longer able to defend us, so Europe must be able to defend itself and Germany is ready to take on peculiar work for European security. They so decided to grow the Bundeswehr and build a European safety system. They advance building common European solutions so as not to waste resources on building parallel defence systems. Why each country should have a full functional army if it only increases costs and hinders the anticipation of joint action. And these are needed due to the fact that Germany believes that Europe should have a common abroad policy. Thus, for 3 years now, Mrs Ursula von der Leyen herself has openly said that she is the leader of the "geopolitical Commission". Yes, ladies and gentlemen, German elites are already speaking straight about geopolitics, Weltpolitik and the request for German leadership in Europe. And that's why I decided to compose this book to show Poles that we are experiencing the renaissance of all those categories that were put to sleep after 1945, but never expired. In hiding, they waited for the right moment, which the Germans believed had just arrived.
Adam Wielomski: The book "German Dream on the Empire" refers to the bestendecic traditions, developed besides during the period of the Polish People's Republic, deciphering the essence of German imperialism and German inability to think in terms of a national state. Unfortunately, this crucial subject substance was put to an end by administrative methods in late PRL, and after 1989 it was sunk among researchers by the force of German technological grants and scholarships. Therefore, no 1 is writing about this in Polish today, even historians, and Polish-speaking German media present a imagination that German imperialism "was a long time ago and not true". However, this imperialism is reviving before our eyes – both as a political thought and in the form of a "geopolitical" language. Unfortunately, Polish eyes are turned east, to Ukraine and the public does not truly see the problem, and the Polish right hand – which should be the first to rise the substance – is frequently glad that Germany is emancipated from American dominance. What is the value of the book “German Dream on an Empire”? Analysis of the German method of unification, first Germany itself in the 19th century by Prussia, and now the full Europe. The German politicians repeat the strategy of unification of their own country: first customs union and economical integration, then the abolition of the veto law in favour of the rule of a majority of votes in matters of abroad policy and defence, then the national state. The book perfectly allows you to realize this method.
