The courage and wisdom of our ancestors, which made Poland a permanent being on the map of Europe 10 centuries ago, are an inexhaustible origin of feeling of national community and inspiration for further efforts for the strength and prosperity of our Homeland "This was the conviction expressed by the Members and Senators in the resolution on the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of the coronation of Bolesław I Chrobry and Lives II in Gniezno. On Friday there will be state anniversary celebrations and church celebrations on Saturday and Sunday on 26-27 April.
In the resolution parliamentarians remind that the coronation of Bolesław I Chrobry was most likely held on April 18, 1025, which culminated in the process of the creation of the Polish state, initiated by the Duke of Mieszko I.
The act of coronation – read in the resolution – made Poland rose to the rank of kingdom and became a sovereign state, recognized by another European countries. Within just 2 generations, she has become a major political player in Europe: strong and independent.
In the same year, Lives II, the boy of Bolesław Chrobry, was besides crowned – this was to take place on 25 December, besides in Gniezno. This coronation confirmed the durability and independency of the Polish state – it was emphasized in the text of the resolution. Both of these events were of fundamental importance to the endurance of our Homeland, which faced in subsequent years both interior conflicts and the hostility of any neighbours.
Although destiny has repeatedly experienced our country for centuries, the thought of unity of territory and community of its inhabitants as kingdoms, crowns or republics gave us strength to overcome difficulties – reads in the resolution.
Therefore, Members and Senators commemorate events that took place a 1000 years ago in Gniezno and express their conviction that the courage and wisdom of our ancestors, which made Poland a permanent being on the map of Europe 10 centuries ago, are an inexhaustible origin of sense of national community and inspiration for further efforts for the strength and prosperity of our Homeland.
The resolution of the Sejm is to be unanimous with the legislature resolution. The adoption of both resolutions is scheduled to take place on Friday 25 April, at a solemn assembly of MPs and Senators on the occasion of 1000. anniversary of the coronation of Bolesław Chrobry in Gniezno.
