As of 1 June, PKP Cargo plans to exempt any of its employees from the work to supply work, introducing the alleged invocation of work.

This decision, announced by the railway carrier, may affect up to 30% of the crew and consequence from financial difficulties. The Management Board of the PKP Cargo directed specified activities to trade unions for consultation, stating that this was due to both periodic financial problems and the temporary limitation of tasks related to the carriage of goods.

The president of PKP Cargo, Marcin Wojewódka, stressed that 1 of the main reasons for these actions is simply a crucial decrease in rail transport and a persistent negative trend compared to the erstwhile year, which besides translates into a decrease in revenue.

– This is tantamount to the occurrence of periodic financial difficulties," said Wojewódka.

According to the information provided by the acting President, the carrier assumes that up to 30 percent of all employees may be subject to a decision to mention to the alleged occupation instatement.

– On Monday, analyses began at the level of individual organizational units – said Wojewódka.

In expressing his outrage, the president noted the deficiency of effective action taken by erstwhile boards to counter adverse tendencies. He besides assured that the fresh board, which was set up on April 26, 2024, had begun consistently taking all available measures to increase business efficiency and optimise the company's costs.
