Members associated with the civilian Coalition were called on Tuesday morning to add their signatures to the draft resolution on TVP. The fresh majority in the Sejm plans to announce the illegality of the National Media Council, which was appointed during the PiS regulation period and is liable for the appointment and cancellation of management in public media. The signal to accelerate these changes was to come straight from Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
As agreed, Members of the fresh coalition were called upon to add their signatures to the resolution on TVP. The portal states that the vote on this task is due on Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. Politicians of the Civic Coalition have already committed themselves during the election run to face the management of TVP. Despite a short time of power by the fresh majority, in public tv programs there is simply a sense of aggressive speech directed towards Tusk's office.
The erstwhile ruling squad is trying to halt the process of giving control of the public media. The first step was to amend the statutes of TVP, Polish Radio and PAP. The president then decided to appoint a prosecutor whose fresh Minister of Culture is incapable to suspend. Members associated with the Law and Justice have besides addressed the Constitutional Court, chaired by Julia Przyłębska, which has issued a decision to suspend any action concerning the liquidation of the company.
The fresh power is preparing for major changes in the public media sector. There is simply a position that Bartek Sienkiewicz, Minister of Culture, will gotta take work for these changes, regardless of the form, whether it is the liquidation of the company or the introduction of a curator. The decision on firm action shall be indicated. According to 1 of the PO politicians, PiS TVP does not intend to give control voluntarily, so it will should be taken away.
The fresh ruling coalition has already taken concrete action. The procedures velocity up, which requires the advance arrival of any Members to Warsaw. The resolution to be taken next day at the session of the Sejm is intended to address the illegality of the National Media Council. It is based on the judgement of the Constitutional Court a fewer years ago, which concluded that the deprivation of the National Broadcasting Council of powers to appoint and dismiss public media authorities was contrary to the constitution.
This resolution of the fresh parliamentary majority is intended in rule to lead to the implementation of this judgment. In practice, it may mean the liquidation of the National Media Council, led by Krzysztof Czabański, a longtime associate of Jarosław Kaczyński. The PiS council has 3 representatives and the opposition of 2 to date.
