The Polish Armed Forces and Turkish Group Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi signed on 10 September at MSPO 2026 a cooperation agreement in the defence of anti-aircraft short and very short range. The paper does not yet prejudge circumstantial supplies, but opens the way for Polish manufacture to work together in an area that is crucial for national security.

PGZ and MKE agreement on MSPO 2026

The Polish Armed Forces Group concluded an agreement with Turkish company Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi on Thursday, September 10. According to Defence24, cooperation is to focus on anti-aircraft defence short and very short range. This concludes with a scope of details confirmed in the origin material. The value of possible orders, timetables or circumstantial systems to be developed or produced has not been specified.

The direction of cooperation itself is important. Effective shielding of troops, airports and infrastructure requires layered defence and manufacture capable of keeping equipment ready. Poland cannot make any replenishment, repair or modernisation dependent on a decision taken outside the country.

Partnership is intended to service Polish industry

International agreements in the defence sector should be assessed on a simple basis: how many permanent capacities will stay in Poland. Design, production and maintenance competence, availability of parts and freedom to make solutions for the Polish Army are important. The acquisition of the finished product alone improves the equipment here and now, but does not build the full resilience of the state.

The PGZ should so enter into cooperation with the MKE as a real partner, not a recipient of technology closed outside Polish control. A akin measurement must be applied to another group projects, including planned integration of the Hydra 70 mm strategy with the unmanned KUNA. Each specified task makes sense erstwhile it increases the autonomy of national plants and the ability to rapidly support Polish soldiers.

First step, not finished result

The signed paper opens the process. It is not yet proof that Poland will receive production, method cognition or the right to independent modifications. These elements must be included in further circumstantial arrangements. The Editorial Board will be able to measure the real value of the task only after disclosure of its scope, division of works and obligations of both parties.

Caution does not mean rejecting abroad cooperation. Poland needs partners, but it should conduct talks from the position of a state of conscious self-interest. The same condition applies PGZ cooperation with Shield AI at unmanned X-BAT: abroad technology is intended to strengthen the national industrial base alternatively than to preserve the function of the importer.

Security and money of Poles are at stake

For a citizen, an industrial agreement may look like a distant matter. In practice, it is about 2 things, the safety of people and the way public money is spent. defence procurement is funded by taxpayers. They should so supply the Polish Army with the essential capabilities and at the same time make competences, workplaces and service facilities in the country.

PGZ's cooperation with the MKE deserves a careful, kind assessment, but without issuing a blank check. The direction is rational. The consequence will find the content of the next agreements. Poland's state of affairs requires that the Polish defence and Polish manufacture should be stronger after the negotiations, not just the catalog of the abroad supplier.
