The Pope speaks of LGBT in the Church. He rejects changing teaching, but wants openness

Pope Leon XIV rejects the change in teaching the Catholic Church about homosexuality. He talked about it in a book interview for Elise Ann Allen.

The writer asked him about the LGBT community. Leon XIV pointed to pastoral sensitivity, on the another hand, rather clearly excluding the anticipation of changing the teaching of the Catholic Church on this subject.

I completely realize that individual is asking: “We want the designation of gay marriage” or “we want the designation of transsexual persons”, in the sense that this is officially recognised by the Church. People will be accepted and accepted. A priest who erstwhile listened to confession listened to confession from all kind of people, in all life situation, with different choices. I think teaching the Church will stay as it is – and that's all I gotta say now. I think it's very important. You gotta support families, what is called a conventional family. household is father, parent and children said the Pope.

There are 2 conclusions.

Firstly, there is no possible of changing the Catechism of the Catholic Church, for which progressive environments seek, specified as German bishops, any Americans or Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich of Luxembourg. Catechism says that homosexual tendencies are objectively disordered – and it seems that these records will remain.

On the another hand, it does not seem that Leon XIV wants to cancel or even correct the Fiducia supplicans on the blessing of same-sex couples. Since he speaks of “acceptance and acceptance” of homosexual or transsexual persons, this indicates a further policy of “openness”, as in Pope Francis' pontificate.
