ISLAMABAD- Pakistani Air Hostess got punched by Saima Jogezai, daughter of Ex-Quetta Commissioner Iftikhar Ahmed, aboard Serene Air flight ER540 on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. The attack left her with a bloodied nose and broken teeth after Jogezai allegedly punched her during a confrontation about seatbelt compliance.
According to airline officials, both Jogezai and her father appeared intoxicated when they boarded the Quetta (UET) to Islamabad (ISB) flight. The incident escalated when the cabin crew instructed Jogezai to fasten her seatbelt before takeoff, prompting her to verbally abuse staff members.

The pilot aborted takeoff after the disturbance and requested security personnel to remove the disruptive passengers. When Jogezai refused to deplane, the situation deteriorated into physical violence against the flight attendant.
Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel subsequently detained both Jogezai and her father. However, airline management reported that the Balochistan administration exerted pressure to resolve the situation without formal charges.
The current Quetta Commissioner arrived at the airport, gathered information from ASF officials, and directed them to settle the matter internally.

Following these interventions, the former commissioner and his daughter provided a written apology and were released without facing legal consequences. Meanwhile, the injured flight attendant required hospital treatment for her injuries.

Pakistan Airlines History of Unruly Passengers
This incident adds to a troubling pattern of unruly passenger behaviour on Pakistani carriers. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and private carriers have documented numerous cases of passenger misconduct in recent years.
A particularly notable case occurred in 2019 when a Pakistani politician physically assaulted a flight attendant on a domestic PIA flight after being asked to extinguish a cigarette. Another incident in 2021 involved a passenger attempting to enter the cockpit of a Karachi (KHI)-bound flight, claiming his “life was in danger.”
In 2022, aviation authorities recorded 87 incidents of disruptive behaviour on Pakistani carriers, including verbal abuse, refusal to comply with safety instructions and physical confrontations with crew members.
Aviation experts attribute this pattern of behavior to insufficient enforcement of air safety regulations and the influence of politically connected individuals who often escape consequences for their actions. The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority implemented stricter penalties for unruly behavior in 2023, but enforcement remains inconsistent, particularly when influential passengers are involved.

Pak Airlines Concerns on Unruly Passengers
Serene Air (ER), a private Pakistani airline established in 2017, has not publicly commented on the specific incident beyond confirming that it occurred and that the affected crew member received medical attention.
The airline’s protocols for managing disruptive passengers and protecting staff from assault are now under scrutiny from industry professionals and passenger rights advocates.
An air hostess was left bleeding & lost a tooth—her only ‘fault’ was asking the daughter of the ex-Commissioner of Quetta to fasten her seatbelt. The ‘princess’ punched her. No FIR, no complaint, and both father & daughter, who were on the flight, walk free.

The incident has sparked renewed concerns about flight attendant safety and the handling of disruptive passengers. Aviation unions in Pakistan have demanded stronger protections for crew members and consistent enforcement of safety regulations regardless of passengers’ social or political connections.
Visual evidence of the assault surfaced a day after the incident, intensifying public outrage over both the attack itself and the apparent preferential treatment given to the perpetrators.
