Building complex geostrategic visions of the Polish state by many specialists can be 1 of the threats to the political class and with it Polish society.
Geopolitics can be understood in 2 ways, either as academic cognition concerning global relations and as a useful investigation instrument or as an excuse for creating dangerous plans to affect individual countries in wars outside of these countries.
Geopolitics can be an instrument that most frequently uses large powers specified as Russia, the US or China to play smaller states. They are told that they have a crucial influence on global architecture. The best summary of this kind of fairy tale is the fall of the German government after president Donald Trump won in 2025. Germany's influence on NATO's policy is insignificant, and creating a imagination of the emerging European giant is simply a ridiculous propaganda operation.
Unfortunately, many Poles are captivated by the imagination of Poland as a European power, which will give out cards throughout the continent. specified reasoning is simply a threat to the safety of Polish citizens, due to the fact that it is based on wishful reasoning, not real thinking.
One of the main promoters of the large strategy of the Polish state is Marek Budzisz, who calls for a debate on this topic. I welcome this invitation and will effort to show why I consider its geostrategic concept to be harmful to national security.
Marek Budzisz wrote in his extended publication devoted to the preparation of Poland for a possible war with Russia:
“In the spring of 2023, during the National safety Bureau meeting, I said, and I keep this view that without the restoration of the universal defence system, we will not only not build an army of assumed numbers, but we will not rebuild what is even more pressing, active reserve and we will not reconstruct the state’s immune system.” (Mark Wakes up, Strategic pause, Warsaw 2023, p. 512.)
In the further part of Marek Budzisz, as the main argument for this kind of solution, evokes a "increase in Poland's position". The publicist regrets that no political force in Poland declares the readiness of specified a solution from the People's Republic. It is hard to convince Poles that their direct engagement in the military service would magically increase the likelihood of a deficiency of specified a necessity in the future due to the "refugee" of Russia. Poles sense that specified compulsory military service will dramatically increase the likelihood of utilizing them as a crucial force in the future possible conflict, after Ukraine is again attacked after giving its warrant to the West.
In addition, Marek Wadzisz convinces that in order to carry out the universal service programme Poles should be prepared for many sacrifices: expanding taxes and taking fresh debts.
Not that Poles will be exposed to drawing them into the military machine, but for this intent they are to tighten the belt and be ready to hazard further economical dependence on abroad countries.
This solution is to consequence from the strategical loneliness in which Poland is in the face of the relocation of the object of interest of the United States of America from Russia to China. This process has only accelerated the selection of Donald Trump, who considers Poland a close ally, but does not intend to keep the US's current commitment to European affairs.
The United States, which was to warrant our security, shows that only their strategical interests matter, and Poland will be crucial to them as long as it is profitable for American interests.
The visions of Marek Budzisz should be considered as a harmful utopia of building the Polish power, which is unrealistic in the face of the increasing deficiency of interest in the Polish society in the war between Ukraine and Russia, and so deficiency of motivation to engage in another people's conflicts.
In fact, specified a solution does not realise the interest of Poles, but it is simply a useful service which our nation can do, which will keep the competitive power distant from their sphere of influence without being peculiarly active on their part.
It must now be answered whether it is in our interest to nail the Russian Federation at the expense of playing with its own security, or whether we intend to build in a affirmative way our security, for example by conducting a multi-vector global policy. This does not mean building a good relation with Russia, but it can besides be an alternate to an anti-Russian collision course.
For Mr Mark Wake, everything that is not anti-Russian is possibly pro-Russian. However, this is not about private sympathy, but about the safety of millions of Poles, which is threatened by fairy tales about the power of the Republic.
The triumph or failure of Ukraine should not be the main stimulus that shapes our reasoning about security, due to the fact that Ukraine does not belong and will not belong to European civilization for long. Both Ukraine's triumph and its failure is possibly dangerous to us. The triumph of Ukraine means wanting to rematch the Russian Federation in the future already with a greater commitment to military aid from the West, and its failure of buffer between Poland and Russia.
In view of the signals that may mean escalation in the east, I ask all readers to say a prayer to Our woman in the intention of Homeland:
We entrust ourselves to you, the most assured Leader and Helper of the nation on this violent turn of our history, in specified hard moments of Polish life today.
We give into Your mother's hands what is best for us, that you might strengthen this goodness in our hearts and deeds, In the morals and actions of the nation.
We trust you, Mary, and what is weak and threatened in us. Heal us from our sins and infirmities. aid overcome all hopelessness. Lift your fall, defeat, and error.
We entrust you, Mother, to all Poles, but especially those who face poverty, unemployment, deficiency of housing, fear of the future.
We trust you with all man in our homeland. First of all, however, young families and a full generation of young Poles, due to the fact that their future fates depend on them. Teach us, Victorious Lady, to overcome our evil tendencies and disadvantages, and especially selfishness, insensitiveness to the needs of others, the reckless usage of the goods of this world. Teach us to go out with a bestowal heart and a loving act toward people, especially those who anticipate our help.
We ask You, parent and Giver of the boy of God: teach us to service life from conception to natural death. Teach us to accept this life with gratitude and confidence. We know that at the beginning of the second millennium of Polish past we request to take work for the destiny of the Homeland.
Teach us, Queen of Poland, how to do this. We want to live with each day better and more dignified, as Christians and Poles, conscious of the large heritage of the thousand-year culture of the nation; faithful followers of its best traditions, but open to the calls which God, the Ruler of Acts, is making to us today. Do this, Leader of the Nation, so that we do not avoid taking up these crucial and truly new—and guaranteeing the welfare of our country and nation—the tasks if we are able to do so.
Do through the aid of heaven, through your powerful intercession with God, that we may do the best we can. We want to walk in our lives together with Christ as his faithful followers.
We want to witness the fact we confess with all our lives, with our deeds and with our words,
Help us in this, Mary, aid of the faithful, Queen of Poland. Amen.
