W The celebration of the unveiling of a fresh component of the monument to the fallen and murdered in the East was held in Warsaw. It commemorates the victims of communism and of Russian imperialism liable for crimes against humanity against the peoples of Central and east Europe.

The fresh component of the monument takes the form of a bronze-made railway base, on which the inscription “The Victims of Communism and Russian Imperialism liable for crimes against humanity against the peoples of Central and east Europe” is shown.

The ceremony was attended, among others, by Deputy Marshals of the Sejm - Małgorzata Gosiewska, Piotr Zgorzelski, Deputy talker of the legislature Bogdan Borusewicz, Deputy president of the National Council of the Republic of Poland Dr. Karol Polejowski, Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Vasily Zwarycz, Head of the Office for Combatants and Represented Persons Jan Józef Kasprzyk, Advisor to the president of the Republic of Poland Marek Rymsz, representatives of the government, clergy.

– We stand before the monument of Poles murdered in the East, present this monument will get an additional component – an component to which we will remember and honor the memory of all the victims of this criminal state, Russia, victims from the countries of central and east Europe – said Dr. Karol Polejowski during the ceremony. The ceremony took place on the first anniversary of Russia's attack on Ukraine, as reminded by the vice president of the IPN.

– On February 24, 2022 we woke up in a fresh situation. Russia has full demonstrated its aggressive, imperial face. But could this have been a surprise to us people in the countries of Central and east Europe? This was no surprise, Russia is an empire, Russia cultivates traditions from the 19th and 20th centuries," he noted. He added that thanks to the fresh component of the monument, "we will honor the memory of all the victims of this criminal state, Russia, victims from the countries of Central and east Europe".

Head of UdSKYOR Jan Kasprzyk stressed that "the memory of Russian crime victims is not only the memory of the victims of the last year, it is the memory of the victims of the last century, but it is the memory of the victims of Russian crime committed for at least 300 years in the nations and states that want freedom."

He besides recalls the words of Marshal Józef Piłsudski on Russia. "The marshal said that the thing characteristic of Russia and the Russians is that they themselves cannot be free, so jealous of the freedom of another nations and countries that this jealousy pushes them to crime and to hate. No 1 has better defined what Russia, the russian Union and the present post-communist Russia Putin have done over the last 300 years," said Minister Kasprzyk.

At the ceremony, Vasily Zwarycz, Ukrainian ambassador to Poland stressed that “we pay tribute to millions of victims murdered by the communist regime, by the government of Russian imperialism last century, but besides at this age, unfortunately, Russian neo-imperialism continues to show its criminal face.”

The solemn unveiling was accompanied by prayer and the laying of wreaths at the monument.

The monument to the fallen and murdered in the East was unveiled on September 17, 1995. It was initiated by anti-communist opposition activist Wojciech Ziembiński (1925-2001).

The monument depicts crosses, judaic matzeva and Muslim tombstone, placed on the platform - symbolizing the deportation wagon. respective twelve railway foundations were placed in front of the railway platform, on which the names of battlefields from September 1939 were placed in the east Borderlands of Poland and the names of the Polish execution sites in the USSR. The bronze statue was designed by sculptor Maximilian Biskupski.
