New York has experienced a crucial increase in the number of attacks on law enforcement officers over the past six years, as reported by the published metropolitan police data.
According to statistical information provided by the fresh York Police Department, from the beginning of this year until the end of May, 970 attacks on police officers were reported in the city, while in the same period in 2019 their number was 595 cases. Thus, force against police officers increased by 63 percent in six years.
Meanwhile, attacks on police officers increased by nearly 4.5 percent in 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
Statistics show that the lowest number of attacks in 2019-2025 occurred during the pandemic period 2020-2021, after which it began to grow rapidly.
